YAY!! My final DonorsChoose project has been fully funded!! Students using the Anatomy in Clay models at Liberty High School will now be receiving another model so that students can work more independently and have more control over their own models - and more understanding of the human body. I'm so thrilled that I've been able to work on this project over the past few years and I can't wait to see how it continues to help students at LHS move into medical and veterinary related fields. :-)

Hello biology fans! I just wanted to share with you some NEW (so very new that it was only just published this year!) information from the bio-engineering realm that I was just made aware of it’s really cool and could help us have MORE ways to rewrite the genetic code than what we currently can do. And to top it off, one of the possible side effects is RESISTANCE TO VIRUSES. Check it out here: https://youtu.be/9j7oEuFrGz4

Good luck on your first week of school, miss you all!!!

I got asked today what I’m most sad about leaving behind at the school... as much as I love my students, they are going on to bigger and better things and there is no way I could ever be sad about watching Eagles spread their wings! The thing I’m sad about is that we are only 2 half models away from having a full classroom set of these babies from @anatomyinclay and my final @donorschoose project to purchase them didn’t get any matches during teacher appreciation week If yo...u want to help, I would appreciate even just having friends share my link: https://www.donorschoose.org//human-anatomy-with/5519046/ None of what I do it has ever been for me, it’s all been for the students. Even though I’m leaving, I want to make sure the improvements that I’ve made in the department will continue to boost our students’ education for years to come.

GREAT NEWS!! All donations to our project this week are being DOUBLED by Ford for teacher appreciation week!! So if you have been considering helping out, now is the time - if you donate $25 it will actually be $50. Donate $50 and it will become $100!! ALSO if you test drive a Ford this week you will receive a $50 DonorsChoose GIFT CARD! That means you can test drive a Ford, receive your gift card, and then have it doubled when you donate it!! We can really use this final push for the classroom before the year is up so any help you can put toward our project will be GREATLY appreciated!!!

The last month of school is generally the most difficult part for my biology II students. They are working on their final video documentary projects using PowToon and in addition to having the correct information there are a lot of other obstacles to overcome such as technical difficulties. One of the reasons I keep doing this project year after year is because it not only teaches about biology and teaches technical skills, but it also teaches resilience and grit in the face of adversity. If you've been here before you know the struggle, so if you want to send them some words of encouragement I know they would appreciate it!

Alright, we are trying one more time to earn the final Anatomy in Clay model that we need to complete our classroom set before the end of the school year. Keep in mind that teacher appreciation week is coming up and we would really love any assistance you could give in making sure our science classroom is ready to teach a full load of excited students for next year!

THANK YOU to everyone who helped contribute to this project to get adapters for students to be able to take photos of the images they see under their microscopes! This is going to help my students learn so much better how to read their microscope pictures and fine their focus skills. Also, this has been my TENTH project to get funded in the last six years! Thank you again to everyone who has helped to contribute to my classroom over the years through DonorsChoose and in other ways as well. It is because of you that I have been able to help so many students become successful in their education.

Thanks to an anonymous donor and the hard work of my science classes, we are only $87 away from completing our next project on DonorsChoose! These devices are very helpful to students who need to gather pictures of microscopic organisms for collections and projects in Biology.

I brought this up to a couple of classes on Monday. We will be required to change our clocks soon for daylight saving time. It’s an unnecessary practice that science and statistics has shown multiple ways it causes more harm than good. We can change this though! Sign the petition to eliminate clock changing twice a year and just enjoy the change in sunrise and sunset without losing sleep! https://enddaylightsavingtime.org/sign-the-petition/

Hi everyone! I know we’ve been out of school for over a week now due to the snow but I would like to remind you all; If you are taking online classes or hybrid classes please check the following places daily! 1. School email 2. Google Classroom 3. Blackboard ... Some online instructors are still expecting course progress to be made even though there is inclement weather. See more

We have a new project up on DonorsChoose! Our anatomy models project has been going really well, so I decided to add another project filled with technological equipment that we can implement in our classroom RIGHT NOW for anyone interested in helping out. If you have ever been curious about the microscopic world, as I can tell you my students are, and these will help them to use new technology to engage with the tiny organisms around us.

DO YOU WANT $50 FOR FREE?? I have been SO THANKFUL for everyone who has helped me with DonorsChoose projects in the past few years. I wanted to let you all know about an offer that DonorsChoose is doing for new teachers in January: just sign up and create your first project before January 31 and you will automatically receive $50 toward it! In addition, if you use my personal link to sign up you will also be sending a free $25 to my projects and benefitting my classroom as well! This is an awesome opportunity and DonorsChoose has been helping me so much with improving my curriculum and supplies over the years, I know it can help you too!

OUR THIRD ANATOMY IN CLAY PROJECT IS FINALLY UP!! Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who helped to make our first two projects so successful! My anatomy students love using the models we already have and cannot wait until everyone can work individually on their own models.
