Dignity and equality are at stake, and she made that clear: [I]t is essential to a woman’s equality that she be the decision maker, that her choice be controlling, and that if you impose restraints and disadvantage her, you are disadvantaging her because of her sex. - RBG

In his January budget proposal, Gov. Mike Parson recommended adding $1.9 billion to the state budget to cover the cost of the approximately 275,000 people who would become eligible. That amount included about $130 million in state general revenue. This is not a request; it’s our constitutional right. It’s time the Governor is held to his word. #MedExMO

Yesterday, we lit candles in memory of the 179 St. Louisans, who have lost their lives to police violence since 2009. Rev Michelle Higgins said: Each candle t...hat was lit was a piece of symbol to say that those lives are not lost from us [forever]. Even though police have tried to take them from us, they cannot take their memories. And they will not take our fiercenessthe fire that is lit in us nowto fight for every life that should not have been lost. : Christian Gooden, STL Post-Dispatch * * If you missed yesterday’s vigil, we invite you to join the Defund Re-envision Transform campaign this Thursday, May 27th for the first part of a 3-part Webinar series. In part 1, we’ll discuss the St. Louis budget and what we mean when we say #DefundSLMPD. Register Here: bit.ly/DRTPart1

ICYMI: Not only is Governor Parson refusing to issue a statewide mask mandate, hiding behind tired local control rhetoric, the Missouri State House is preparing to preempt local municipalities from issuing their own. So, they want to do nothing at the state level and want to prevent us from acting at the local level. ... We truly are on our own to fight a deadly pandemic, and we cannot go on like this. Will you help fight COVID-19 with a Giving Tuesday donation? https://missourihealthcareforall.org/donate/ Your support doubled thanks to a generous group of donors will make sure Missourians’ voices are heard above the clamor of special interests.

"After 12 weeks, the average daily growth rate of coronavirus cases in the two urban counties was still 40% lower than in counties without the policy. Moreover, the mandates reduced the unequal burden on higher-risk groups, decreasing transmission rates in more densely populated areas and on racial minorities, who have been disproportionately infected, the research says." Missouri Hospital Association says The wolf is at the door and urges Governor Parson to issue a mask mandate. This was before the latest COVID count of more than 276k statewide positive cases, with more than 5,500 positive daily cases and more than 3,600 unfortunate deaths. We would argue that the wolf is, in fact, already in the house. https://www.stltoday.com//article_4de5eb66-9f74-5760-b46a-

On November 10, Missouri reported its second highest daily total for COVID-19 cases, with 4,256 new infections. This number is the third time in four days with more than 4,000 new cases. By contrast: When Missouri implemented a stay at home order to bend the curve on April 3, the average number of new cases per day was just 206. The highest per capital cases continue to be seen in rural counties, currently highest in Perry and Moniteau counties.... Also concerning: The Department of Health and Senior Services reported on 138 previously unreported COVID-19 deaths the seventh such report just since late September. We are eight months into the pandemic, and Missouri officials still cannot report accurate, timely data on the most basic of statistics. We can’t go on like this. https://missouriindependent.com//missouri-adds-more-than-/

We are all anxious to know the outcomes of today’s elections. Remember, it is far more important to count every vote than it is to know a result immediately. If you plan to watch returns tonight, here’s helpful information on how to understand what you might see. And remember, just like President Trump claiming he ended the pandemic doesn’t mean you should throw away your mask, any candidate declaring victory prematurely doesn’t make it so. #vote #votesmart #votesafe

Missouri hospitals are urging, begging Governor Mike Parson to do something to slow the spread of COVID-19. They are running out of beds and have nowhere to transfer patients. His office’s response? If needed, we can get a new hospital built in 11 days. What will signal it is needed if these numbers don’t? How many Missourians will die in those 11 days? ... And why, why would we not try to slow the pandemic so that we don’t need to build emergency hospitals? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Governor Parson, the outline of a plan to turn around the deadly path our state is on is at MissouriCovidAction.org. #COVID #MaskUp

ICYMI: Saying something false does not magically make it true, no matter how loudly, confidently, or often you say it. Saying something false can, however, cost people their lives. Do not be fooled by the President and Governor’s cynical, political efforts to downplaying the pandemic. ... The pandemic is here, it is widespread, and it is growing - precisely because our leaders have spent all year failing to lead. Infection rates are up, hospitals are filling up, deaths are accelerating. We are all weary of the pandemic. Unfortunately, we are also nowhere near rounding the corner. In an era where those who should be leading are instead obfuscating, misleading, and misinforming, we must all choose our sources of information carefully. Don’t listen to campaigning politicians who have already proven they do not care about hundreds of thousands of American lives lost. Listen to the doctors and nurses. Listen to infectious disease experts. Listen to the hospital leaders. Listen to public health officials and experts. Listen to objective, unbiased news outlets. Listen to universities. The messages from these sources has been crystal clear: Things are bad and getting worse. It is going to be a hard winter. Mask up. Physically distance. Get your flu shot. Stay home if you’re sick or have been exposed. Parties can wait. Family reunions can wait. Disney World can wait. Going to bars can wait. Worshipping in-person can wait. None of these things are worth risking your life, or the lives of your loved ones. Be smart, Missourians. Stay safe.

A few important points from this article: The pandemic is escalating in Missouri. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. Hospital numbers are up enough that health leaders are worried about bed capacity, not just for COVID patients, but for all COVID patients. ... The state continues to have inaccurate, misleading, and delayed data. As bad as the numbers we can see are, there is reason to believe the actual numbers are even worse. Please: Mask up. Physically distance. Stay home if you have symptoms. And demand that our state leaders do better.
