As our nation is protesting the death of George Floyd, we challenge you to think about the underlying issues that caused these demonstrations. Just as we encourage our members to look at the root causes of different social justice issues before we help other communities, we encourage you to challenge your current breadth of knowledge. Why are there so many problems in the system? How can we change them? What can we do to ensure others are safe in the future? The actions against this man were just the tip of the iceberg. Beneath the surface lies much more than what is displayed. Take today to reflect and challenge yourself.

Trip leader applications are still open! If you are worried about not knowing what social justice topic you would pick, Anna went through something similar when she became a trip leader. Here’s her advice: If you aren’t sure what social justice issue you would pick, don't worry about being really knowledgeable about your social justice issue. Pick one that sounds interesting and through your research and discussions, you will become so passionate about it. Being a trip leader can develop your SJ knowledge and awareness through teaching others. Don’t forget to apply!

Miner Challenge Alternative Break Program 07.05.2021

MCM applications close this weekend, so don’t forget to apply!! Hi I’m Ashleigh the MCM for marketing and here’s what I’ve learned from being in miner challenge: I didn’t even plan to apply for MCM or think that I had enough experience to do it. But I’m so glad I was convinced to apply. Miner challenge is such an amazing opportunity and I want to continue to see the program grow. My first trip and year in the program helped open my eyes more to social justice. I became so much more aware of SJ in daily life and it’s made me so passionate about it. Being able to make decisions for the program makes me optimistic of the future. I’m so glad I was able to be involved and can’t wait to see the next leadership team grow!

Mentor applications close soon!! Here is what Shelby our MCM has loved about being in Miner Challenge: Something that was so transformative about being an MCM was the ability to take all of my own passions and use it to teach the trip leaders. Supporting and pushing the trip leaders to inspire their participants was an amazing process to be a part of. I love Miner Challenge so much and being able to do long term planning made me see the power in the program even more that I did before. I’ve seen participants and trip leaders lives changed from their experiences. It’s from the social justice education and work that we do. Being in charge of that? Truly leaves me feeling speechless. Apply to be an MCM to have the same (+ even better) experience as me! Don’t forget to get your applications in
