The updated severe weather outlook moves the greatest risk to along and south of Highway 60.
Thank you to all of the EMT's, Paramedics, and First Responders who have chosen the career of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The past year has presented new challenges and compounded an already complex atmosphere. Several of you have stepped up to help cover open shifts when others have been off for extended periods of time. You have worked through the increased call volume including long distance transports and the inconvenience of mandatory PPE with extended decon procedures. Thank you for being willing to do whatever it takes to serve your community with pride and integrity. I am honored to be a part of such a fantastic group of individuals forming a successful team. Happy EMS Week! - Chief Smith
Thank you nurses for all that you do!!! Happy Nurses Week!
METS Ambulance participated yesterday in an airport drill at the Joplin Regional Airport. METS personnel and paramedic students from MSSU practiced skills that can be used during a mass casualty incident. Thank you to the Joplin Fire Department and Joplin Airport for conducting this disaster response training.
Happy Veteran's Day!
Happy birthday Carson! Thank you for coming by to see us! Carson turned 5 today. For his birthday he wanted to give local first responders breakfast. Big thank you to JPD, Newton County Sheriffs Office and METS Ambulance for making Carson’s birthday very special!
METS Ambulance and Newton County Ambulance District were activated by FEMA and deployed resources this morning to support the hurricane relief efforts in Louisiana. Keep the crews and everyone who has been impacted by this storm in your thoughts and prayers.
METS Ambulance is proud to start recognizing individuals who have performed or provided extraordinary care during extraordinary circumstances. METS Ambulance Challenge Coins are now being presented for those who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in someone's life. Though many details of their performance can not be given due to patient privacy rights, we still want to recognize those individuals who have earned a challenge coin. Our first 2 team members to earn this coin are Paramedic Riley and EMT Reeves. 2 lives were saved during a complicated child birth due to the actions of these 2 men.
Today we lift one of our own up in our prayers. Last evening (Tuesday, May 26th), while vacationing with family in Florida, Patrol Sergeant Brian Ward and his ...2-year old son, Knox, were outside of their vehicle when they were struck by a vehicle being driven by a drunk driver. Due to their injuries, both Brian and Knox were transported to separate hospitals where they were admitted to the respective intensive care units and are currently in stable condition. Brian’s wife, Heather, and 5-year old daughter, Reagan, were not harmed in the crash. Brian’s injuries will require extensive surgery(s), physical rehabilitation, etc. Family and friends have established a benefit account at Pinnacle Bank in order to ease the financial burden of being hospitalized over 800 miles from home. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to any Pinnacle Bank. Checks should be made payable to Brian or Heather Ward. WARD FAMILY BENEFIT ACCOUNT information. Here is a list of the Joplin metro Pinnacle Bank locations: 1010 S Madison Street, Suite M, Webb City 802 S Main Street, Joplin 2433 S Rangeline Road, Joplin 1316 E 32nd Street, Joplin 1651 W 7th Street, Joplin 501 Cross St, Sarcoxie An additional way to donate is through Heather's Paypal account - [email protected] We offer the Ward family our thoughts and prayers toward a speedy recovery. We would like to thank the many agencies who have contacted us about helping out the Ward family. Above all, we would like to thank the Florida law enforcement community who has shown the Ward family exceptional hospitality and taking care of Heather and Reagan during this tragic time.
Please keep Clay and his family in your thought and prayers. Clay is the Fire Chief for the Oronogo Fire District and recently came back to work with us as an EMT at METS. Below is fundraiser information that is being shared. Testing for his condition is still underway and we have no further information on his condition at this time. Thank you for your support for him and his family.
Happy EMS Week to all of the men and women who serve in the field of Emergency Medical Services! Your dedication to our profession is truly appreciated.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. Have a blessed day!
