Welcome to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Mary, Missouri. In 1853 St. Mary 's Seminary of Perryville purchased six acres of ground for $100. It was considered the most desirable site high on a bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. From 1854 until 1871 the mission was taken care of by Vincentian priests at St. Mary's Seminary in Perryville and served the needs at the time of Ozora, Lithium, and St. Mary. In 1855 a small frame church was built and in 1861 Rev. Abraham Ryan, a Vincentian priest and poet gave mission here. By 1871 the parishioners had grown to one hundred seventy-five. The cornerstone of the current church was laid in 1887 and served the St. Mary community faithfully until 2018.

St. Joseph Parish in Highland was founded by Fr. Martin Mary Gregory and with land donated by Simon J. Lukefahr Sr. and his wife Frances this Roman Catholic church nestled in the rural country landscape was built by the men of the parish. The wood for the construction was donated by Frank Emmendorfer. This is the ONLY church on the tour that has four (4) rows of beautiful wooden pews! And with colorful stained glass windows wrapping around the room you can't help but smile at the rays of light and beauty of God's world. #traditions #CCCTour #Christmas #SteepleChasers #PerryCoMo #VisitMo

Concordia Lutheran church is a delightful experience. The community of Frohna was founded by 29 families in 1839. In 1883 the congregation began to hold Christmas Eve services with a children's program. This tradition continues at present with the largest church attendance of the year. Each child receives a white paper bag of fresh fruit and candy. First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge located in north Cape Girardeau County is another beautiful stop on the tour. the first Baptist sermon preached in Oak Ridge, Missouri was in 1862 by Elder J.G. Rutter. The organization of the Baptist church at Oak Ridge was due more largely to the labors of Bro. William Clippard, perhaps, than to anyone else. He donated nearly two acres of land and with the help of friends of Christianity in the community was the leading force of the first church- house, which was completed in 1862. The pews inside this country church, that are still in use today were installed in 1908. Go ahead and take a break, listen to some music and sit for a spell and enjoy the reason for the season. #CCCTour #traditions #Christmas #VisitMO #SteepleChasers

Apple Creek Presbyterian is the third oldest Presbyterian church west of the Mississippi River and was established in 1821. It was a welcome haven in the new frontier for many who sought a new life where land was cheap for anyone who was willing to endure the hardships and struggles of settling new and untamed lands. Plans are already being made for their 200th Anniversary in 2021. #traditions #CCCTour #Christmas #SteepleChasers #VisitMO
