*SCAM ALERT* Maryville Public Safety has recently taken many reports of people receiving calls from someone claiming to be an officer in Texas. During a scam call, the person may ask for your bank account information, personal information, or they may even try to get you to send them money in reference to something they claim they are investigating that is associated to you. Some claim to be helping you clear your name because they know you are innocent, and others try to s...care you into giving them information or sending them money to stay out of trouble. Please remember that Law Enforcement Officers do not call you an ask for your money, banking information, or personal information when you are in trouble. If we need to speak with you because you broke the law, we will come to you and speak with you in person. Scammers always try to rush you into doing the things they ask so you don't have time to think about it, and often, they will tell you not to talk to anyone about it.
