Brody, our handsome office assistant, tested positive for heartworm today we are heartbroken that his trip to the Puppies for Parole Program has to be delayed. Never fear, though, he will be starting heartworm treatment within the next couple of weeks. Any donation toward the cost of his treatment is greatly appreciated. The approximate cost will be posted in the comments.

Dog came up to my farm porch. East of 65 about 8 miles South of I-70. Very sweet, very friendly. Neutered male, collar no tags. When he is excited he makes a c...hirping like noise. Funny. Looks like he has been on the road for awhile. He is very skinny and collar was tight. I believe he is a young dog. Need to find this dogs owner fast. It will soon be too cold for him to be out side. I have him in a pen with shelter, hay and blanket but temps are going to drop bad and it will be to cold for a dog in this shape to handle. I have 3 large male dogs, one unfixed and I worry for his safety in my house with them. He is friendly with my dogs and they him but it could turn out different inside and he is only 1/2 their size. Dog Poisoned by the Diffuser Saturday night I got home late and my dog didn't recognize me. Being a nanny I thought I woke him up and he was having a night terr...or. Sunday, he was still acting weird. I realized that I had been running my new diffuser and decided to turn it off. Sunday afternoon, he was feeling better. Today at work, my dog sitter said that he wouldn't come out from under the bed. It was very odd as he is a happy dog. I came from work early and again, he was very confused about who I was. So I took him to emergency vet. It turns out that the tea tree oil I was using in the diffuser is toxic for dogs. Thankfully the test showed that his liver was ok but we weren't out of the woods yet. He was given fluids under his skin to get the toxins out. The vet and the poison control are saying that they see these cases often now that the popularity of essential oil is growing. Please make sure that the essential oils you are burning are not toxic for your pets. Here is a list of essential oils not to use if you have a dog at home Anise (Pimpinella anisum) Birch (Betula) Bitter Almond (Prunus dulcis) Boldo (Peumus boldus) Calamus (Acorus calamus) Camphor (Cinnamomum camphora) Cassia (Cassia fistula) Chenopodium (Chenopodium album) Cloves (Syzygium aromaticum) Garlic (Allium sativum) Goosefoot (Chenopodium murale) Horseradish (Armoracia rusticana) Hyssop (Hyssopus sp. with the exception of Decumbens) Juniper (Juniperus sp. with the exception of Juniper Berry) Mugwort (Artemisia vulgaris) Mustard (Brassica juncea) Oregano (Origanum vulgare) Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium) Red or White Thyme Rue (Ruta graveolens) Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus) Sassafras (Sassafras albidum) Savory (Satureja) Tansy (Tanacetum vulgare) Tea Tree Oil (Melaleuca alternifolia) Terebinth (Pistacia palaestina) Thuja (Thuja occidentalis) Wintergreen (Gaultheria procumbens) Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) Yarrow (Achillea millefolium) Please share this story as it may save someones precious furry family member!

SKYSY-- Quiet and undemanding are 2 words that correctly describe Skysy. She and her siblings came in as strays with their mom. The whole family has been adopted except Skittle and her sister, Skittle. They are often overlooked because they aren't the first to come to the front of their cage to be petted or seek attention. Skysy is playful and social on her own terms; a typical cat! Skittle's adoption fee is $90. She has been spayed and is current on vaccines/wormer/flea treatment.

SIR LOVE BUG-- this little trip hazard seeks attention from EVERYONE!! We call him a trip hazard because his favorite place is between your feet whether your walking or not. He just wants to be held and cuddled constantly and won't accept no for an answer. When it's time to play with his kitten friends he plays rough so we always pair him up with a tolerant adult. It's so much fun to watch him jump and box and stand on his tip toes!!! SIR LOVE BUG's adoption fee is $90. He is neutered, current on vaccines/wormer/flea treatment.

REED--Reed and his sister, Farsi, were born to a feral mom cat in the community. The citizen who was caring for the mom cat caught the kittens and brought them to the shelter to be tamed down and put up for adoption. The citizen spayed mom and kept her. Reed took a while, but he's turned into a very talkative, attentive kitten. Reed's adoption fee is $90. He is neutered, current on vaccines/wormer/flea treatment.

LACEE- Lacee is the last of her litter to be adopted. She and her siblings came to the shelter with their mom when they were only 2-3 weeks old. Being raised in a shelter has made her a social butterfly. She has never met a person or cat that she doesn't like. She has never been introduced to a dog, though. Lacee's adoption fee is $90. She is spayed, current on vaccines/wormer/flea treatment.

Marshall, Mo Animal Shelter 06.08.2020

HAMILTON---Sweet, sweet Hamilton came in at the tender age of 2 weeks old with his siblings when their mother was hit by a car. He was bottle fed in foster care until recently.
