**Alert**-Evergy may start shutting down power for 30-60 minutes to prevent a blackout situation. Please be aware this may effect our entire area today. Please make arrangements now if you rely on power for medical or other emergency equipment. Also be aware that this is temporary, however check on neighbors and the elderly. Please do not call 911 to report a power outage, unless that outage is causing an emergency that requires emergency crews to respond. If you come across an intersection without power treat it as a four way stop.

With the winter weather upon us this week we are continuing to have NUMEROUS crashes. Please stay home if at all possible. If you must get out leave early and please SLOW DOWN. Road conditions can change in an instant and easily refreeze. It only takes hitting one slick spot to ruin your day. Be Safe!!!

With Christmas quickly approaching, we are seeing an increase of packages being stolen off of front porches. Don't let porch pirates ruin your holidays. Check your carriers website for their delivery options. Carriers such as Amazon and FedEx offer delivery to convenient business locations that will hold your package for you to pick up. Have packages delivered to your work place(if allowed) or to a family member or neighbor who will be home to receive the package.... Keep an eye out. If you see someone suspicious and you believe they are stealing packages off of porches, call 911 immediately.

The Lee's Summit Police Department is proud to announce a new program to help keep our citizens safe. Take Me Home is a program that was originally developed by the Pensacola Florida Police Department for people who may need special assistance in times of emergency. This kind of assistance may be required if the person is unable to speak or properly identify themselves, or if they become disoriented or act in a manner that could be misinterpreted by first responders or law en...forcement officers. The system includes a current digital picture, demographic information and caregiver contacts. If a police officer encounters a person in the Take Me Home system, the officer can query the database by searching a name or by the person’s physical description. Once the individual’s Take Me Home record has been located, the officer has the information at hand to appropriately assist the person. For more information or to join this program please visit: https://cityofls.net//programs-and-se/take-me-home-program
