President Brad Lewis spoke with optimism to the youth at a stake youth fireside on January 17th on the part they play in this year's Youth Theme: A Great Work. He few highlights from his message were: "It's been more than 45 years since I was a 12-year old deacon, and over that entire period of time over those 45 years, I never remember the Prophet and President of the Church speaking to the youth and inviting them to understand and accept their critical role in moving th...is work of Jesus Christ forward like President Nelson has done with YOU!" "Please take out your scriptures or grab your phone wherever you typically read & mark your scriptures and mark verses 33 and 34 in Section 64. And in the margin or in your notes for those verses, write these words, 2021 Youth Theme. Then, in years ahead . . . 5, 10, 20 years from now when you come across those verses you will see that back in 2021, during the year we came out of a pandemic, you and the rest of the youth throughout the world had this as your theme." "I hope this theme of "A Great Work" as found in (Doctrine & Covenants 64:33-34) will be the focus of our trek in June: A Great Work . . . A Great Trek!"

Bill Stanley, First Counselor in the stake young men presidency, spoke at a stake youth fireside on January 17th where he offered teenagers (of all ages) timely counsel and insight. Comparing self-discipline to two dogs, one with control and the other with no control, he asked the audience which of the two dogs is stronger. "Remember to choose carefully which dog you feed, because it will eventually become strong." A few other notable observations he made were:... "There is no such thing as a mistake as long as you learn something from it." "Brilliant things happen in calm minds. Pray often. Calm your mind and listen." "Let us not be weary in well doing. Out of small things proceeds that which is great. Let's go out and do a bunch of small, great things this year."
