Light up Sikeston with the Hope of Jesus 24.04.2021

Organizers of Light Up Sikeston presented a check of $1,269.17 to Michelle Fayette, Executive Director of the Kenny Rogers Children's Center. The funds were raised by attendees of the drive-thru Christmas display throughout the month of December. THANK YOU for your generosity!

We may have officially closed down the displays, but we know the HOPE OF JESUS is never ending! Again, we would like to extend an enormous THANK YOU to every participant in this event. Whether you constructed a display, drove through, sang carols, or just prayed for this---we thank you. If you would like to learn more about Jesus, we invite you to join us at Sikeston First Assembly of God, or attend ANY church in our community. We want you to have a personal relationship with... Him and encourage you to find a church home. Please message us if you have questions or would like prayer. If you want someone to contact you, leave a phone number and the best time to call. We sincerely hope you have enjoyed the lights and look forward to seeing you next year with a bigger and better event! God bless you and Happy New Year! --LaRae Long (on behalf of the many that took part in presenting LUS)

TONIGHT is the LAST night for the Christmas light displays! Bring the family and come on through ONE MORE TIME before we take it all down, starting tomorrow! Have safe celebrations tonight, and thank you for your support this year! (We will soon make the announcement of our final total of donations made by YOU to Kenny Roger's Children's Center!)

If you have visited these displays, you have been on the property owned by Sikeston First Assembly of God. We appreciate their permission, promotion, and support of this event. John McHaffie, lead pastor at SFA is involved in many programs that continue to make an impact in the community. Among his duties as pastor, he and his wife Susan head up the Helping Hands food program. He was instrumental in bringing Night To Shine to our area, and plays a big part in Spread Hope Now ...and Radical Christmas. Pastor also works for Sikeston DPS as a Chaplain. We know that 'busy people get things done', so of course we knew Pastor John would be the go-to for this project as well! We asked him "When approached by the thought of reaching out to the community with a Christmas display, you took the reins and ran with the idea! What motivated you to take part in this event? Do you feel this has brought attention to the Hope of Jesus, as it was planned to do, to this community?" He responded "For years I’ve wanted to take advantage of the electrical outlets that were placed at the foot of each tree that is lining North Ingram. When La Rae approached me about her Christmas vision, we jumped into high gear to bring hope and joy during a rather difficult year. The vision was to create a COVID19 safe Christmas experience where we could socially distance without losing the hope of Christmas. Jesus is the center of everything that is good! We placed the giant JESUS sign for everyone to see, the goal was to Light up Sikeston with the HOPE of Jesus and I feel we accomplished that goal and now I’m ready to start planning Christmas 2021!" Wow! What an exciting adventure! Thank you Pastor John (and SFA) for stepping out in Faith and trusting God's plan.

We are on the last few days of accepting donations for Kenny Roger's Children's Center! We charged no fee to set up or view the displays this year, only asking for donations; with 100% going to KRCC. Donations are being accepted until Friday morning at 1221 N Ingram. Thank you for your generous support.

We want this event to be BIGGER and BETTER next year for our community! If you have any displays, outside ornaments/decorations, or LED lights to donate, WE WILL TAKE THEM! Message us here to arrange pickup or drop off! We look forward to some exciting changes next year!

Displays are still up until January 1st! You can still make a donation that helps Kenny Rogers Children's Center until then! We are still in holiday mode and want to carry this good feeling, and the Hope of Jesus, into the new year!

Reminder: our displays will remain open for you to enjoy until January 1st! Also, we are taking donations of still-working LED lights, and gently used yard displays for NEXT YEAR'S EVENT! (We ask for LED lights only to help keep energy costs down.) Or if you are out shopping now it is the end of the season and see a great sale on lights or displays, we would be honored to accept items for coming years. This is a COMMUNITY event and next year we have plans already in motion f...or bigger and better things, but we can't do it without your help. Contact our church Sikeston First Assembly of God, 471-4649...or LaRae Long at 573-724-7178 to donate any items.
