When the holidays come to an end (or when the branches and needles start to dry out), Liberty Parks & Rec makes it easy to recycle your Christmas tree. Drop off your undecorated, live trees off at Bennett Park (1100 N Clayview Dr.) to be chipped and recycled into natural trail resurfacing. Trees will be accepted starting today, December 23 through January 30. Follow the signs to the designated recycling area. Trees will not be collected at City Park this year due to construction.

Don't let COVID-19 crash your holiday gatherings. Mayor Brenton reminds you to avoid gatherings when possible (opt for virtual options for holiday celebrations), wash your hands and most importantly, wear a mask any time you're indoors with people outside your household - even extended family! We wish you all a safe and healthy holiday season!

The top three days for home candle fires are Christmas Day, New Years Day and New Years Eve. Take a moment to make sure all the candles in your home are: - in a sturdy container and on a flat surface so that it won't tip over, and in a spot that won't get knocked over by people or pets - at least 12 inches away from things that can burn - like curtains, blankets, etc. Candles should never be left unattended. Blow it out when you leave the room.

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree How lovely are thy branches! Keep your live tree looking lovely by watering it DAILY. And keep your tree at least 3 ft. away from any heat source (candles, space heaters, heat vents, fireplace, etc).... When the tree becomes dry - if the needles begin to shed excessively or are dry and brittle to the touch - discard the tree immediately. You can drop off your undecorated trees at Bennett Park to be recycled starting Dec. 23.

A shout out to the Liberty Fire Department... Earlier this week, a Liberty resident fell from a ladder while putting up Christmas lights on his home. After assisting the resident, our firefighters stayed behind to finish hanging the lights. They did choose to use their own ladder to finish the job! #aboveandbeyond And we hear the resident is on the mend!
