This client brought in a blast from the past! His 1989 Chevy RV has only 21,000 ORIGINAL miles. Check out the oil change reminder sticker from 1995! It's absolutely pristine inside and out and has always been garage kept. He visited us because the heater core started leaking into the floor board. Working on these or vans requires taking apart the "dog house" as you can see pictured. Because these types of vehicles have a recessed front end, the engine is pushed farther back into the cab. Replacing heater cores are big jobs that require a lot of dash removal. Like always though, we do it all here and done right the first time! #autorepair #automotiverepair #rvlife #LowMiles #Autorepairnearme #LegacyAutomotive #cassielovescampers

Did you know we do pre-trip inspections? This client is going on a 9 hour road trip soon and wanted to make sure his Mercedes c300 was in good shape for such a long drive. Visually the car looks fantastic with no glaring issues. Once raised in the air you can see his tires are completely unsafe! Can you imagine being hours away from home with a blowout? It’s not a fun thought. Even worse it could cause an accident! Make sure to give us a call to get a general health check up ...on your vehicle before heading out of town. We will provide a fully digital inspection that’s texted to you with clear and easy to read suggestions. We also highlight all the great things about your vehicle! Each color coded header is a drop down menu with technician specific notes and pictures about your vehicle! We look forward to hearing from our community on how we can take care of them! #autorepairnearme #fentonautorepair #63026 #autorepair #automotiverepair #mercedesC300 #baldtires #continentaltires #automotivephotograhy See more

A couple posts ago we talked about a Mercedes that ended up having a fuel leak. This week we have an Interceptor Crown Vic with one! As you can see in the picture, the fuel tank was leaking badly from the seam on the corner. We replaced it with a brand new tank so the client will be trouble free for many years. If you EVER smell fuel consistently you need to let us know ASAP as this can be extremely dangerous!

Our former technician Jax decided to pursue a career as an EMT/Firefighter and we couldn't be happier for him! He recently needed a new clutch in his very nice Nissan 370z so he naturally visited us to have the work done instead of doing it in his driveway . We wish you the best Jax on your new adventures!

It's that time of year! We did our first air conditioning job recently. Client came in stating that their AC was blowing hot. The typical process for this is to visually inspect the AC components to look for obvious signs of wear or breakage. If none are found we use our AC machine to drain any remaining refrigerant, vacuum the system to clear any debris and recharge to manufacturer's specs. From here you will quickly know if the AC system is working properly or not. This client needed a compressor kit which includes the compressor, condenser, expansion valve, seals and flushing the lines of any contaminants. Depending on temperature and relative humidity you ideally want a 25 degree drop. Pictured here we see almost a 40 degree drop! That's gonna feel great this summer!

Here's some examples of the other fun stuff we get into around the shop. Now, we don't always have time for these types of projects but give us a call if you have a similar need and we'll get an appointment lined up for you. New Honda engine on a log splitter, full service for a Can-am 4wheeler including new tires, rear cv axle replacement and a tune up on a generator. We also will work on side by sides!

Let's talk about suspension! Have you noticed a rougher ride, nose diving when you hit the brakes or unusual tire wear? If so, you need new shocks and/or struts. Those are all classic symptoms of worn out suspension. Let's face it, the roads in St. Louis aren't the best to begin with but why not experience them with maximum comfort?

Some things just don’t make sense

These days people are more and more occupied with life and all it's curve balls. One thing that is extremely important to remember is changing your car's oil. We see it very often here at the shop where vehicles come in low on oil, very dirty or extremely overdue. There's an old saying that it's cheaper to change your oil than it is your engine and let me tell you from personal experience we see at least 1 vehicle a month that needs a new engine due to lack of oil changes. If you are unsure or not comfortable checking your oil just swing by and we will be happy to do it! Our client's LONG TERM needs are very important to us not just a quick fix and hope for the best.

Diagnostic and what does it mean to you? I'm sure a lot of you have wondered what does the diagnostic fee you're paying get you exactly? Well, here's a very good example. Client came in with a check engine light on with the dreaded P0420 (catalytic converter) code. Most of the time people immediately think the worst and that it will be very costly to repair. This is where providing proper diagnostic solutions comes in. The picture below shows an exhaust manifold with a crack,... circled in red. This crack allows too much fresh air to be sucked into the exhaust which can cause a false positive for catalytic converter inefficiency. We wanted to share some best practices with the community so you have a better understanding of why we charge for diagnostics and present the value of knowing you have an exact answer instead of guessing and just throwing parts at a car to fix it.
