Today, October 14th, is a day of joy and celebration, of reflection and remembrance, and of sadness and thoughts of what might have been. Twenty-four years ago today, Left Field Creative was born. Our dear friend, Ed Mattie, the big brother I always wanted and never had, put his career on the line, and gave both Terri and me a once in a lifetime opportunity most people don't get once in a lifetime. In the blink of an eye, Terri and I went from being cogs in the grind it out a...Continue reading

We take a moment to pause and reflect on this day as we remember our dear friend, first client and beloved surrogate big brother, Ed Mattie, who passed on this day, August 29, 1998. The 21 years since seem like an eternity and the blink of an eye, all rolled into one. Without Ed, Left Field would never have been possible. He asked two creatives to quit their jobs on 24 hours notice and take over CITGO's advertising, promotions and marketing responsibilities, because he was ...unhappy with the results he was getting from his big Michigan Avenue agency in Chicago. Ed showed conviction, faith and belief in hiring us. He also knew we would never fail him. Today, almost 23 years after opening our doors, we remember the man who made Left Field possible. The man who changed our lives. And the man whom we shall forever love with all our heart. As we close our eyes, we can still hear Ed's laugh, and hear him saying, "Would you quit wasting your time writing about me. There are a lot of things you could do with your time that would be a lot more fun."

Left Field Creative will take center stage at the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association's (TSCRA) Expo Academy on Monday, July 30th at the Fort Worth Downtown Omni Hotel. Left Field's Terri Lacey and Bill Shelton will deliver key insights on how to reach and understand cattle ranchers and cattle industry professionals, who will be attending the organization's annual Cattle Raisers Convention in March 2019. We have an amazing show planned, with in-depth information... and profiles detailing TSCRA's members and their habits, unique personality traits and buying processes, as well as detailed, actionable strategies on communications, booth creation, after-show follow-ups and much more. A quick thought from a few years ago that seems to hold more weight every day. Remember these words when multitasking through your day. Advertisers take note. When people use multiple devices at a time, such as a tablet or smartphone while watching TV, the viewer retains very little. That's a problem, unless your message can grab attention and hold it. Multitasking, when it comes to paying attention, is a myth. The brain naturally focuses on concepts sequentially, one at a time. To put it bluntly, research shows that we can’t multitask. We are biologically incapable of processing attention-rich inputs simultaneously. Dr. John Medina, Brain Rules
