Our positivity rate for 04/18/2021-04/24/2021 is 5.3%, Missouri Hospital Association Numbers of total cases reported at the state and federal level may show differently. This is due to data entry discrepancies in the state’s system and lag times entering them into the state database. It is urgent that everyone use several layers of protection: Social distancing, mask wearing in public, avoiding unnecessary gatherings and exposures, proper hand hygiene, and sneeze/cough etiquette. We have read over the CDC's new optional alternative to shorten quarantine. The Lafayette County Health Department is not going to follow these alternatives at this time. We will continue to follow the 10-day quarantine for a positive case and 14-day quarantine for a close contact format we have been using. We may choose to revisit these alternatives when we see a steady decline of new cases, but until then nothing will change with our current quarantine procedures. We ended the month of October with 348 cases for the month. We ended the month of November with 527 cases for the month, most of these due to community spread. Until that slows, we will keep doing what we're doing. Wear those masks and wash those hands. Let's all work together to get these numbers down!
