One of the many important lessons we've learned this year is that masks aren't just for Halloween anymore. Now that flu season is underway, we encourage you to keep yourself and your loved ones safe by wearing masks that cover your mouth and nose. Check out the CDC website for some fun and easy ways to make masks for yourself at home: http://ow.ly/jusA102qQRu

This month is ADHD Awareness Month! Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder is a mental health concern that can cause significant distress. Regrettably, even though the American Psychiatric Association and other respected organizations have definitively established the legitimacy of ADHD, myths and misinformation continue to create difficulties for the millions of people who struggle with this disorder. We ask you all to join us in the effort to create a more welcoming and accepting environment for those who have ADHD. Learn the facts about ADHD here: http://ow.ly/omUA50C5oJY

Most years, the end of October is a celebration of candy, costumes, and creativity. This year, though, the COVID-19 pandemic has complicated matters. With Halloween rapidly approaching, many people are still struggling to identify the best way to celebrate safely. We can definitely enjoy the holiday. However, as we've done so often in 2020, we have to incorporate a few key changes. Get some great tips for a safe and fun Halloween here: http://ow.ly/MXUu102qr38

We almost always try to highlight a message of hope or motivation with the posts we share to start the week. We do this because we understand how hard it can be to feel inspired and energized on Mondays. For the millions of Americans who have ADHD, though, the fight to remain focused and driven can be a continuous struggle. In a recent Psych Central article, two ADHD experts described a few fundamental strategies that can make a world of difference: http://ow.ly/5BUF102pNyI

Some are privileged beyond expression to respect and value a person called, Boss. At LBHS, we are fortunate to have as our Fearless Leader, a person who lives with integrity, in and outside of his work life. He is a tremendously devoted husband and father, brother and son. He truly and personally understands patient care, as he himself worked directly with our patients and gradually climbed the ladder to where he now holds the title. Solution-focused, team-oriented, individ...ual-empowering...among his fine qualities. Not everyone can carry heavy weight with dignity and peace. Few can handle with the same grace, taking the brunt of blame when things seem less than satisfactory. He is one who does not hesitate to meet people where they are. Mr. Duncan, we are so honored that you are Lakeland’s CEO and (perhaps greatest) Boss. Thank you for all that you are and for being such an involved part of all that we strive to accomplish at Lakeland.

Welcome to the second day of OCD Awareness Week. According to information collected by the National Institute of Mental Health, more than 2 million adults in the U.S. are currently living with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Symptoms of this mental health concern occur most commonly among individuals in their late teen years or in adulthood, but children can also be affected. Even though OCD is not an uncommon disorder, many people continue to believe myths and false information. We all need to work together to promote the facts and increase awareness of OCD. This video provides a quick introduction to OCD: http://ow.ly/llNT102p8aW

Today, on the final day of Mental Illness Awareness Week, we are also celebrating World Mental Health Day. The focus of the 2020 edition of WMHD is to promote increased investment in mental health. The most useful investment you can make for yourself and your loved ones is to make mental health a priority. Take the time to educate yourself about how to identify potential warning signs, and don't hesitate to seek assistance when necessary. Today and every day, remember to remain vigilant, practice self-care, and support others who are struggling. Read more here: http://ow.ly/1GfF102oYPB
