The achievement gap is ever-widening with the impact of COVID-19. In a recent study published in the journal Educational Researcher, authors projected that returning students in fall 2020 were expected to start the year with only 37 to 50% of the learning gains in mathematics relative to a typical school year. STEAM Studio is working to fill this gap by providing hands-on, problem-based learning opportunities in small groups for Kansas City’s youth.
