Amazing report from @kcmolandmarks In 1910 Alice Jackson hired an architect to build her home on Tracy. Upon its completion, she decided she could do better herself. So, with talent in oil and water color painting, but no architectural training, and only a high school education, she undertook the task of building a house. The first house she designed and built was probably at 3914 Tracy. Most of her early work was in the Squire Manor development, between Troost and Pase...o, Armour and 39th Street. This addition was platted around 1908, converting the farm site of James J. Squire into a restricted residential development. Charles E.
