KCMO’s East Village Neighborhood downtown was chosen as the study site for the Urban Land Institute’s Gerald D. Hines Student Urban Design Competition! Students will propose how to create a thriving, mixed-use, mixed-income neighborhood in the East Village. 110 teams from 62 universities in the US, Canada, & Singapore will compete. The competition asks students to consider issues of housing affordability, equity, transportation, mobility, sustainability, and resilience as they create a comprehensive design and development program for the site. Heads up if you're headed to the KCMO Health Dept. this morning: The Kansas City Health Department will be closed to visitors until 11 a.m. because of water issues. Please call 816-513-6008 to reschedule appointments. This include appointments for things such as flu, shots, vaccinations, the STD clinic, as well as getting food handler cards and birth and death certificates. Sorry for the inconvenience, and we are working to reopen as quickly as possible.

Visitors purchase tickets (one per car-load) in advance Kansas City, MO Parks and Recreation website. On your day of arrival, you’ll cruise Oakwood Dr in Swope Park (which has been transformed into a modern holiday light experience). The drive is approximately one mile long and completely adorned with game-...changing holiday light displays. Nov 2 - Jan 2 is your opportunity to pack your car with your loved ones and grab your favorite Christmas snack to check out the City’s Winter Magic by Kansas City, MO Parks and Recreation. They even have a Santa and an amazing Christmas playlist. Winter Magic is partnership between Jolt Lighting LLC and KC Parks. This partnership allows everyone to enjoy a #COVID-safe holiday experience in our parks and the longest animated light tunnel in the Midwest.
