Guys, I’ve totally been there More times than I can count. And even when I knew better, I found myself traveling down that path time and time again. ... It’s only human. There’s certainly no judgment here. But the truth is Sometimes, when our dogs do certain things Or don’t do certain things It can feel awfully personal. Like it’s about us. Like it’s directed at us. It can feel like our dog is intentionally challenging us Like they don’t respect us Like they hate us Like they are reminding us time and time again, that we’re no good at this. That we are a terrible dog owner. That we are unworthy. But every time we make our dog’s behavior about us We’re simply projecting our own insecurities, and our own stories onto them. And that doesn’t help us solve the REAL problem. In fact, it leaves us responding to their behavior from a place of emotion, rather than a place of clarity and understanding. Because the truth is Your dog’s behavior (or your friend’s, or that stranger on the internet) It’s not about you. It’s about them. So stop taking it so personally. (I know, I know, easier said than done. But since I have to remind myself this often, I thought it best to give others a gentle reminder too.)

Who’s a good girl! Piper! Piper and Christy earned their CDX (Companion Dog Excellent) this past weekend with darn nice scores! That training really pays off. Good work team!
