Knowing who you are is not self-serving. It is essential to your well-being and your relationships with others. The way you view yourself will define how you rest, work, and play; how you fight and make peace. It will shape the way you love. It influences how you approach your relationship with God. Your sense of identity flows into your relationships with others. For example, if you believe the lie that you’re worthless, that lie will shape and distort your outlook on life. It will influence how you treat your body and how you allow other people to treat you. Your understanding (or misunderstanding) of your identity will define your sense of purpose and your contribution to the world. It will tell you whether to value your talents or believe you have nothing of value to offer. What you believe about your identity will tell you whether you share your dreams and live as a woman with a vision and mission, or whether to hide your dreams away believing they are pointless. It’s impossible for anyone to live beyond what we believe to be true about ourselves. When you are uncertain about who you are, you will believewronglythat your value has to be earned. You will try to prove your worth through achievement. You will feel burdened instead of having a lasting peace and contentment that grounds your life. You will rely on the recognition and applause of others to center you and provide affirmation. And what does all this do to you? You will exhaust yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally trying to earn the approval of people or institutions. Then you’ll take yourself beyond exhaustion as you try to hold on to the approval you feel you have earned. You’ll be trying so hard to keep it all together that you’ll have no energy left to find your way back to who you truly are. You will have lost sight of the fullness of your true identity. You’ll no longer see or believe the reality of your God-given potential and purpose. Coming to a deeper understanding of your identity in God, your gifts and passions, and your unique calling frees you to serve others in a way you never could if you remained unaware of who you are. Why do our beliefs about ourselves influence the choices we make in life? So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27 NLT Dream Killers "Never give up on what you really want to do. The person with big dreams is more powerful than one with all the facts." Albert Einstein In the Bible, we read about a young man named Joseph, and I am sure many of you are very familiar with him. He was one of Jacob’s sons, and God had a special call on his life. His father loved him and favored him by giving him a coat of many colors. This made his brothers very jealous and angry that they hated him. God spoke to Joseph in a dream showing him the plans for the future; I guess Joseph was naive in thinking his brothers loved him and he shared his dream with them which only angered them more. Today we still have circumstances of jealousy and anger among family members, friends, peers, and co-workers. The enemy thrives on bringing distractions like jealousy and hatred for the believer to abort their God-dream. We should be mindful of who we are sharing our dreams with because not everyone will celebrate with us. God had a great plan for Joseph's life, and God reiterated his plan by giving Joseph this reoccurring dream that one day his family would bow down to him. Let me just sayJacob loved Joseph more than any of his other children because Joseph had been born to him in his old age. So one day Jacob had a special gift made for Josepha beautiful robe. Genesis 37:3 NLT that if you keep having a dream or vision that seems similar every time, it may be a sign that God is showing you the plans for the future. Joseph again shared his dream with his brothers and father which further incited them to anger. Little did Joseph know the fate that would befall him due to the jealousy of the "dream killers"! Remember that God gives us dreams so we may see hope for our future but dreams also become fuel to keep going forward even when we see nothing happening or even when things seem to work against that dream. God showed Joseph the final outcome of his life in his dream, but God didn't tell Joseph much detail about his journey to the final result. The enemy will plant dream killers along the path who will encourage you to give up but don't blame them sometimes they do not understand they're being used to keep you back. Say a prayer for them and leave it in the hands of God, stay focused on what God has shown you because your dream will take you through many difficult times. Prayer: Lord, help me to not focus on the dream killers but to stay focus on the dream you have given me. Amen One night Joseph had a dream, and when he told his brothers about it, they
