The State track meet has been suspended due to the tornado. Team meeting at 9:00am in J wing commons for those athletes. We will share more info as we get it.

Another great day for the Indians and Lady Indians track and field teams. At the the Class 5 Sectional 1 meet in Waynesville 16 Jackson athletes qualified for the State Championships next weekend. Donya Marx started the day off right by winning the high jump. Connor Tollison pulled out a 4th place finish in the discus. The girls 4x800 team of Prince, Fliege, Bauer, and Wilson cruised to a 2nd place finish. Rhyleigh Kihafner showed that even as a freshman she can handle big m...eet pressure taking 2nd place in the 100. Erin Huff kept the streak of qualifying performances going with a 2nd place finish in the pole vault. Kennedy Bauer ran like the veteran that she is by executing near perfect race strategy to claim her state qualifying spot in the 1600. Aaron Brown will be attempting to repeat his all state performance of a year ago after qualifying in the 400 again. Kennedy came back later to join Kaylee Wilson as they both ran like pros qualifying in the 800. Jack Rinehart also earned another trip to the State meet to attempt earn a spot on the podium again in the pole vault. The day was capped off by a thrilling performance by the boys 4x400 relay team of Dickerson, Craft, Marx, and Brown. They ran a season best 3:27 in windy conditions for the win! We also had several 5th place finishes that just missed qualifying. One in particular deserves a shout out. Luke Wendel battled back and forth the last 4 laps of the 3200 with a very tough Seckman runner for the final qualifying spot. Both runners took turns throwing moves and counter moves at each other the last few laps with neither runner willing to give in. The Seckman runner had a little more foot speed in the end, but it was an epic inspiring effort by Luke. Up next is the Class 5 State Championships in Jefferson City next Friday and Saturday!

Outstanding day of track and field for the Jackson Indians! Both the boys' and girls' teams won the SEMO North Conference Championships, and on top of that they both also won the inaugural SEMO All Conference Championships. First time ever that all 22 high school track and field teams in southeast Missouri have come together for one big conference track meet. #semosweep #bringinghomesomehardware

Day 2 of the Kansas Relay was another good day for the Jackson Indians track and field team. Erin Huff cleared 10'6" equaling her PR in the vault placing 10th out of 21 vaulters. The girls' 4x800 relay team of Kennedy Bauer, Layla Fliege, Ashlyn Prince, and Kaylee Wilson improved their season best to 10:02 placing 9th out of 39 teams. Finishing off the meet for us was Kennedy's PR time of 5:17 in the 1600 earning her 18th place out of 39. Our athletes competed against the best of the best in the whole Midwest, and held their own very well! Our goal is to take this big meet experience and put it to good use in a few weeks at the State Championships!

Jack Rinehart got the day started off right by placing 2nd in the pole vault while breaking the school record (15'8"). Aaron Brown ran a strong 400 finishing into a strong head win, and just missing the finals. Caleb Craft recovered well after hitting the 2nd hurdle on the 300s to run one of his best times of the year. Ethan Walz, Kaylee Pipsqueak Wilson and Kennedy K-Bear Bauer all got some great experience running in fast crowded heats in the 800, and more than held their own. Then Daniel Dickerson, Ethan Walz, Caleb Craft, and Aaron Brown closed out our first day at the Kansas Relays with our best time of the year so far in the 4x400 relay. Today's Jackson Invitational track meet was a resounding success! Boys varsity and JV teams both took first, and the girls took 2nd in both divisions. We also won the overall combined team competition as well. Congratulations to Donya Marx for being named the Outstanding Field Event Athlete. Donya won the high jump, triple jump, and long jump. Congratulations to Kaylee Wilson and Kennedy Bauer for being named the Outstanding Runners. Both girls were on the winning 4x800 team..., Kennedy won the 1600 and 3200, while Kaylee smoked the 800 just missing the meet record, and then came back with a gutsy anchor leg on the 4x400. Other notable performances included Rhett Liley breaking his own school record in the javelin AGAIN. Jack Rinehart set a PR winning the pole vault, and just missed the school record. Aaron Brown had his usual stellar performances in the 400, 200, and 4x400. Luke Wendel destroyed the field in the 3200. And we couldn't have brought home those top team finishes without all of those 2nd through 8th place finishes by everyone else. Total team effort! See more

40th Annual Jackson Track and Field Invitational this Saturday at the Jackson Track and Field complex. Javelin starts at 9:00 am, pole vault at 9:30, other field events and running events start at 10:00 am. The first 500 fans wearing Jackson gear get in free. Come out and cheer on the Indians!

The Jackson Invitational is Sat., April 6 starting at 9:00am with the men’s Javelin! Attached is an order of events for the meet.
