2 years ago today, I started cosmetology school. - Today, I had clients sit in my chair at my dream salon Let's get real for a second.... When I made the decision to not continue my education in the nursing field and switch to cosmetology, I actually had people question my decision. People genuinely looked at cosmetology school as a cop out - any easy route to just get some type of degree. WRONG! You simply cannot succeed as a cosmetologist if you're not passionate about what you do. It's hard. We don't just play with hair. We learn mathematics, chemistry, ergonomics, physics, communication and so much more, just to do our day to day job! Once you find what you're meant to do, no matter what that is, it is the most liberating feeling. I walk into work everyday feeling so extremely blessed to have a career that I truly love

let's talk PURPLE SHAMPOO Here are some questions I get from blonde clients that I will answer right here about purple shampoo!! "I've never used purple shampoo before - how do I use it and what's its purpose?"... - Purple shampoo is to be used between appointments to help maintain your purple tone and to cancel out unwanted warm tones. You don't need to start using a purple shampoo until 2-3 weeks prior to your appointment. I would suggest mixing with your normal shampoo to avoid over toning - and to get the feel of what it does/how to use it for your first time! "I feel like my purple shampoo isn't working. My hair is not as bright as it was when I got it done." -This is probably due to overusing your purple shampoo. You do not need to use your purple shampoo every wash. I would suggest every other wash or every 3-4 washes depending on how often you wash your hair. Since purple shampoo is a toning shampoo, you can actually over tone which is making your blonde appear dark and dull. "How do I use purple shampoo?" -Always apply your purple shampoo to wet hair. If you apply your purple shampoo to dry hair, it can latch on to the more porous sections of your hair, creating a very uneven tone.
