Happy National Activity Professionals Week! Each day this week we will be featuring words from our very own Activity Professionals on reasons "Why they LOVE their job." Today's inspiration comes from Felisha Rosa, Allison Care Center, Activity Director: I have been working with the elderly population since 2001. I come from a huge family and have been away from them for over 17 years. Many of the elders I come in contact with have become my family since I don't see mine ver...y often. I enjoy treating them as my family, a part of my life. When people think of nursing homes, they think it's an awful place and I try to change that and bring happiness into their lives by showing them we can still have fun even though they are in a nursing home setting. I love expressing myself to the elders in a happy way, being goofy at times, and not having a care in the world. It makes me feel rewarded when I leave every day. Having them recognize me as the fun person brings me all the joy I could ever ask for! I try to do whatever it is they would like and make that come into reality. I love coming to work which, to me, isn't work at all! What is also very important to me is having my children see what giving back and helping others can do. They have been volunteering since they were born and having them see, feel, and experience how important it is to be a part of helping others and the great joy it brings into their lives, is why I continue to do what I do.

On behalf of all Vivage Senior Living communities, a donation of nearly 1,300 socks was made to the Denver Rescue Mission today! For at least the last three years, we have worked with The Mission and the Sock It To 'Em Campaign, to donate socks to those that need it most. Socks seem like such a small, simple item but it is the greatest clothing need of those that are homeless. Won't you join us by hosting a small sock collection and dropping them off at a shelter near you? Let's help to keep everyone warm and dry this Winter season!
