Since there is so much interest in the Corpus Christi procession posts, I have posted 10 more photos of the 1942 Corpus Christi procession from St. Ferdinand Shrine. I have marked each photo with information we have. I do not have names of people in the photos or names of groups in the photos. Photos and old maps are for sale at the Gittemeier House. The Gittemeier House is open on Tuesdays 10-4:00 or other times by appt. Please contact Gina at 314-565-1468 to make an appt.

Corpus Christi Procession 1942 Joseph Desloge, Sr. and his daughter are leading the procession on horses. In the background, find Bunkers and the Mercantile building at St. Francois and St. Pierre, Laramie's Meat Market (gone), white building (rental for a variety of different merchants, split down middle - gone) and Dobo's Bakery (now Red Oven Pizza). The procession started at St. Ferdinand Shrine and traveled east down St. Francois Street. Photos and maps may be purchased at Historic Florissant. For more information call 314-565-1468.

Meet our newest hero, Charles White, from Charles White Home and Landscape. He will be replacing the damaged brick around the front window of the Wiese House. We are so fortunate he is volunteering his time and expertise. Thank you Charles!

We worked on the Wiese House today. We had previously removed the rotted window and 2 layers of soft brick surrounding the window. Today we removed the soft, crumbling plaster, crumbling wood support beams and some lathe. Soon a new volunteer, Charles White, will rebuild the brick wall around the window. We are looking for a craftsman who can recreate the wood arch that will go over the top of the window. If you know of anyone interested, please contact Gina at 314-565-1468.
