It is with great disappointment that the City of Herculaneum Veterans Day and Ceremony scheduled for November 8 has been cancelled for 2021. The cancellation is due to the ever increasing number of Covid-19 cases in Jefferson County. The city feels that it is better to error on the side of caution. Hopefully we will be able to have the Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony in November 2021.
THIS THURSDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2020, AT 10:15 AM IS THE GREAT CENTRAL UNITED STATES "SHAKE OUT!" Will everyone in your household do the right thing during the violent shaking of a major earthquake? Before the next earthquake, get together with your family or housemates to plan now what each person will do before, during and after. Once the earthquake is over, we will have to live with the risk of fire, the potential lack of utilities and basic services, and the certainty of after...shocks. By planning now, you will be ready. This plan will also be useful for other emergencies. Visit www.ShakeOut.org for information about preparation and response to an earthquake. Planning for an earthquake or other emergency is not much different from planning for an event or vacation. Make sure that your emergency plan includes evacuation and reunion plans; your out-of-state contact person’s name and number; the location of your emergency supplies and other pertinent information. Finally, have occasional earthquake drills to practice your plan, and share your plan with people who take care of your children, pets, or home. Plan NOW to be safe during an earthquake: Practice drop, cover, and hold on. Identify safe spots in every room, such as under sturdy desks and tables. Learn how to protect yourself no matter where you are when an earthquake strikes.

The City of Herculaneum received the Tree City USA 2019 designation by the Arbor Day Foundation on Friday, October 2! This marks the 13th consecutive year that the City of Herculaneum has received the designation.
The City of Herculaneum and the Herculaneum Fire Department remind everyone that National Fire Prevention Week is Sunday, October 4 - Saturday, October 10, 2020. NATIONAL FIRE PREVENTION WEEK - OCTOBER 4-10 This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign is Serve Up Fire Safety in the Kitchen.... The Herculaneum Fire Department and Dunklin Fire Protection District reminds everyone about the small but important actions you can take to keep themselves and those around them safe. Cooking brings family and friends together, provides an outlet for creativity and can be relaxing. But did you know that cooking fires are the number one cause of home fires and home injuries. By following a few safety tips you can prevent these fires. COOK WITH CAUTION Be on alert! If you are sleepy or have consumed alcohol don’t use the stove or stovetop. Stay in the kitchen while you are frying, boiling, grilling, or boiling food. If you leave the kitchen for even a short period of time, turn off the stove. If you are simmering, baking or roasting food, check it regularly, remain in the home while food is cooking, and use a timer to remind you that you are cooking. Keep anything that can catch fire - oven mitts, wooden utensils, food packaging, towels or curtains - away from your stovetop. Have a kid-free zone of at least three (3) feet around the stove and areas where hot food or drink is prepared or carried. IF YOU HAVE A SMALL (GREASE) COOKING FIRE AND DECIDE TO FIGHT THE FIRE.. On the stovetop, smother the flames by sliding a lid over the pan and turning off the burner. Leave the pan covered until it is completely cooled. For an oven fire, turn off the heat and keep the door closed. IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT ABOUT FIGHTING A SMALL FIRE. Just get out! When you leave, close the door behind you to help contain the fire. Call 9-1-1 from outside the home.
The City of Herculaneum and Kade's Playground thank McCain's Towing and Auto Body for the painting of the pump house door at Kade's Playground. The city greatly appreciates McCain's donation to the playground.
