Peace to all during this turbulent time we are facing as a community. Covid-19 has impacted us all. Not only are we dealing with the same oppression based variables before the pandemic, we now have new restrictions that have affected us all in so many more ways. Most folks have had their attention set strictly on the deaths caused by covid or this election that just passed. Both were and are vital, and we have made sure to stay active on both fronts of these fights. We’ve bee...n active getting safety equipment out to people, registering folks to vote, training millennials around voter education, and more. Those of you that know us know this, we are very personal with our community. This is why we are asking you all to help. Covid relief here in St. Louis has also continued in the ways of every other element of support. Black and poor people are always last. Several families have reached out to us about urgent assistance. They said they could not get any help from 211. The orgs that 211 sent them to basically said they have to be getting evicted or without utilities before they will help. That’s not very proactive. That’s the problem with these orgs now. They don’t show up until it’s too late. They show up after you’re dead and a hashtag, after you’re homeless, after you’re jobless, after you’ve overdosed, after, after, after, and after. We gotta start to show up in the now when people need us. These families have fallen behind due to covid. Proud, hardworking, and community dedicated families. They lost jobs and opportunities due to covid. They’ve been denied help by these same folks claiming to help. They need some assistance before it becomes too late.
