Gordon Parks Reopening Update! Families, As we make plans for the fall, there are a few changes and updates for you to be aware of. We have a new start date of August 31. We will run half days for the first two weeks. The school day will begin at 7:45 and end at 11:45. Full school days of 7:45-3:15 will begin on September 15. There is no school on September 7 or September 14.... All classrooms will be small. Each classroom will have one teacher with no more than 13 students in a class. This will provide enough room to allow for social distancing while in the classrooms. We will be utilizing a cleaning method involving hypochlorous acid. This provides a strong sterilizing and disinfecting effect without harmful effects on our students or staff due to its organic nature. This cleaning agent will be used for both air and surfaces. It is approved by the FDA, CDC, USDA, and EPA. Additional precautionary measures include: staff members and students recording their temperatures every morning, breakfast and lunch delivered daily to individual classrooms, smaller classroom sizes, face coverings required, visitor restrictions, hand hygiene, and daily disinfecting of common areas. If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, school officials will notify the health department and the student or staff member for immediate dismissal until their quarantine is complete (10 day), and close the affected area for cleaning. All positive individuals will be kept anonymous to protect their privacy. For families not comfortable sending their child to school in-person, there will be a virtual option. If this is something your family wishes to use for your child, the attached form must be filled out no later than August 4th. No late responses will be accepted. If you choose the virtual option, please understand that this is for the entire semester. You will then have the option in January to have your child return to in-person learning or remain virtual. Grades and attendance will be taken for all virtual students and participation in all activities done virtually will be required. Our Back to School Event will still be on August 20th from 1:00-6:00.
