Join Avila University President Ronald A. Slepitza on a Hard Hat Tour of the brand new Goppert Performing Arts Center. Construction has been moving along so well since the recording of this video that Straub Construction Company has ALREADY completed more than what you see here, but this will give you a great glimpse into our exciting new spaces! We can't wait to have you see it all in person. The original Goppert Theatre at Avila University was built in 1974 and named after... Vita Goppert. Vita, a 1972 Avila graduate, was instrumental in the establishment of the theatre. In 2016 the estate of Vita Goppert made a generous donation which kicked off the capital campaign for this project. More than 220 alumni, staff, and friends have also supported this project with their generous gifts. The addition to the Goppert Theatre will provide increased rehearsal space, an expanded 200-seat blackbox studio theater, music room, and a new scene shop for stage design and production. This will give our students experience working with professional-level facilities, practices, and equipment. The addition will not only impact theatre performances but will also provide resources to the other programs in Avila‘s School of Performing Arts. At Avila University, 23% of undergraduate students participate in performing arts activities. This renovation and expansion will also have a great impact on the surrounding community. More than 20 community groups and an estimated 14,000 community members utilize or attend performances in the Goppert Theatre annually. The new space will provide more dynamic venue opportunities for community and professional organizations. Today we are building the theatre of tomorrow for our theatre-makers and performing artists of tomorrow. We can't wait to welcome you into our new home!

All NEW Goppert Performing Arts Center coming FALL of 2020! The new Goppert Performing Arts Center will provide students with performance spaces, classrooms, rehearsal areas, a newly designed scene shop and a 200 seat laboratory blackbox theatre.
