We will be doing a boot drive the next couple of days to raise money to send kids to burn camp. If you see our firefighters out at intersections holding a boot we are asking for donations for this cause. All proceeds will go to Burns Recovered which sends kids who have surffered burns to their body to camp with other kids who have suffered the same trauma.

Please avoid burning today.

Our crews battled two separate back-to-back natural cover fires today, with the second involving over 100 acres of burning grasses and vegetation resulting in a countywide call for mutual aid. The ground may be muddy, but the vegetation is very dry. Combined with gusty winds, a small fire can become a huge problem fast. Wednesday's weather will be similar to today's. Please consider holding off on burning until conditions are more conducive to safe burning. ... Our crews are wrapping up the cleaning process this evening. We would like to thank every fire department in Cape Girardeau County for their assistance today.
