We have a little finish work to be done and will soon have it seeded. When the grass takes hold, it will be a beautiful field, providing yet another renovation at Fox Park. It has started! In 2018, this was to be the 4th year in the renovation rotation with the fields at the Howard Hils Athletic Complex being rotated the prior thre...e years. However, supply chain issues arose in 2018 following bid approvals. We worked last spring to build room back into the current budget year for renovating the Rothwell Park and Fox Park infields! Dirt is being hauled in this week and over the following 2-3 weeks, the field at Fox as well as Groeber Field, Patrick, and Meinert Field will all be updated with a sand/clay mix, laser grading, skimming the crown around the edge of the infield, and bringing in topsoil and seed. Much like the renovations at the complex 2015-2017, this will be a big and positive change, improving everything from play to drainage to maintenance! We are beyond excited to see this coming to fruition!

What is happening at Fox Park? The City is constructing a stormwater basin at the far north end. While a crew is there, Moberly Parks and Recreation is having t...hem address the outfield to create a gentle grade from the infield toward the creek, eliminating the "bowl" that used to exist with a steep drop in the outfield. Pending Park Board and Council approval, MPRD is also looking at having infield renovations done this fall on all four practice fields (Fox, Groeber Field, Patrick Field, and Meinert Field). New infield mix would be trucked in and spread, infields laser graded, the crown around the infield removed, and new topsoil and seed along the outer edge of the infield where the crown was. We were set to make these infield renovations 2 years ago when a supply chain issue arose and short-circuited the project.
