Praise God! Two men were baptized today- Brother Willie and Brother Nicholas! We are thankful for these men who have taken this step in obedience to publically proclaim their faith. We pray that they will continue strong and steadfast as they grow in their pursuit of righteousness.

Easter Sunday Live- Pastor Micah Smith

Forest Avenue Church 13.11.2020

We had a wonderful ordination service today in honor of our new Elders, Kevin Morgan and Micah Smith. Both men shared their testimonies followed by a musical performance by members of the Egyptian Choir and a blessed sermon by Dr. Asefaw Indrias from the Ethiopian Church. We are so thankful and honored to have these faithful leaders as Elders of Forest Avenue Church!

We are excited to announce that the ordination of Elders will take place this Sunday, November 8th at 11am. Forest Avenue Church is also honored to host guest speaker, Dr. Asefa Indrias and worship singers from the Ethiopian Church. We ask that visitors be cautious to follow safe social distancing guidelines. Masks are required within the building, but may be removed once seated.

Please be in prayer for Pastor Ken and his family. He was admitted to the hospital today with chest pains. He will be staying overnight as they observe him and do more tests. Thank you @micahsmithkc for stepping in last minute today and giving an encouraging message. We are blessed by your willingness to serve and speak truth.

We are thankful for those who were able to worship with us today! Pastor Ken began a new series in the book of Hebrews. Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, having become as much superior to angels as the name he has inherited is more excellent than theirs. Hebrews 1:1-4

Today, we were honored to invite @seanmcg as our guest speaker. Sean spoke from Acts Ch. 8, using Philip as our example of effective witnessing. We learned that this effective witnessing requires risky obedience, which means sometimes following God without any certainties or details. Second, identifying the redemptive connections between the gospel and where people in their own lives are seeking redemption. Lastly, understanding how God reconciles all of diverse humanity to Himself, regardless of race, social status or any other barriers. Thank you @seanmcg for your message today. We were blessed by it. @ Forest Avenue Church

We should be focusing not on the problems, but on the possibilities. Pastor Ken preaches today’s word from Joshua 17. When we aren’t satisfied with what God has given us, we think we need or deserve better. Like Joshua, we need to be focused on what we are able to do for God in our circumstances , rather than focus all our attention on what we think is holding us back. Sometimes we need to do work in order to start the work.

Join Forest Avenue Church on Friday at 7pm as we pray together over our community, city and nation. We will be meeting on the street corner of 43RD and Troost Avenue. We believe prayer is vital and powerful. We, as God’s representative’s, need to show this broke world that we have an Almighty Creator who is faithful and true, who hears our cries and knows our hearts and is victorious over all things. Come, unite and pray with us!

Tonight’s Prayer Meeting will not be located at the park, as we announced yesterday in service. Instead, same place and same time. We’d love to see you there!

Every Monday night @ 6:30pm, come and be present with God’s people, lifting burdens, encouraging, praising God and interceding on behalf of those in need. This is a ministry that everyone is called to and that every one of God’s people should serve and participate in. We’d love to see you there.
