The Hawthorn and Equestrian Trail are fully reopened. There may be some smoking logs still inside the unit, however, starting tomorrow the rain should put those fully out by next week. #happyhiking

The valley below Hawthorn is still firing slowly downhill. This slow fire progression will help to kill off invasives and dense woody vegetation. #burnbushhoneysuckle

Park staff are hard at work again today clearing cedars out of a new glade. Be aware that we will be burning piles this afternoon, so you may see smoke.

This week museum staff installed a new short term display connected to the Missouri Bicentennial. Missouri State Parks staff and volunteers spent 2020 creating... one of a kind quilt blocks representing each of the state's 91 parks and historic sites. The blocks were assembled to create a quilt and lap blanket in honor of the Missouri's bicentennial celebration in 2021. The textiles are now on display in the State Museum's History Hall through the end of January. After that the quilt and blanket will travel to various parks and sites throughout the rest of the year. We encourage everyone to stop by and check out the display. The museum located in the State Capitol building is open daily 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and is free and open to the public. For more information please call 573-751-4127. #ItsYOURHistory #Missouri2021 #MoBicentennial #missouristateparks #Quilting

Babler State Park will be CLOSED at the end of business day on Friday, December 11th through Sunday, December 13th. The park will be conducting a managed deer hunt the weekend of the 12th & 13th to bring down the high population of deer inside the park. This helps to restore balance to the park's plant life that is being decimated by the high browse rates that the deer have developed. The park will reopen to guests on the following Monday, December 14th for normal operations.
