This is the bus that ran from Springfield to Mountain Home, Arkansas, with stops in Ava and Gainesville. Maybe other stops too?

Here is another old class photo I ran across. There’s several names I recognize. My mom, Helen (Letsinger) Stamper is in this one.

William Riley Potter (b 1837 Callaway Co MO, d 1922) and Serilda Ingleton King (b 1844 Benton Co AR, d 1918), my paternal great great grandparents. Both are bur...ied in White Deer TX. A cousin disagrees with who this couple is, but it was verified by my grandmother, Verna Goodwin Johnston, and her brother, Newton Goodwin. See more

The envelope is addressed by Rev Shindler and sent to my Grandfather, Boone Norman Sr. The penmanship is the important thing here. He came to my fourth grade c...lass in 1951 to give us a demonstration of penmanship. His granddaughter,Linda ,was probably In our class. How beautiful! My 3-4 mixed grade classroom was a little building that set somewhere around the area where the gym sidewalk and public sidewalk meet, on the west entrance to the gym(front). The picture is of Mr Reese and his family. The article is incorrect regarding his surviving bank. He was the president of Citizens Bank, not Bank of Ava. The other article is about a play being given by the Lions Club. It is the names of the participates that is significant. My Grandfather, Boone Norman Sr, his brother Emmett, were in it, and Emmetts son Jim was part of the high school quarter that sang. The majority of the actors were merchants around the square. The play was to raise money and would have been performed around 1947 or 1947.

Lewis Oliver Hailey, my Great Grandfather, sitting proudly behind his new typewriter. I estimate this photo to be taken in 1894. During that year he sent typewritten letters to the Governor of Missouri. The letters can be found in the Missouri Archives. L.O. was born in 1864.
