But, it does the opposite. Bottom line: You can’t cheat sleep & you can’t catch up on it. Sleep dep...rivation adds up over time & takes a toll on you physically and mentally, even making it more difficult for you to adapt to stress. #stlouis #sleepmedicine #sleepisimportant

Numerous studies have shown that without 8 hours worth they are much more likely to engage in high risk behaviors and also have an increased risk for anxiety and depression. The teen years are naturally full of angst and the COVID-19 pandemic has intensified the stresses that many children experience. Be sure to talk to your child about how important sleep is for their mental health!

Did you know that it's normal to take between 10 and 20 minutes to fall asleep once in bed? If it takes you less than five minutes to fall asleep, you’re most likely sleep deprived. If it takes you longer than 20 minutes make sure you're practicing good sleep hygiene. It's important to stick with a sleep routine and make sure that your bedroom is dark, quiet, and comfortable to get a good night of ZZZ's.
