Oil lubricates the engine and absorbs heat, allowing the internal parts to work together effectively without overheating. Over time, engine oil breaks down and wears out. When it does, it becomes less effective at lubricating the engine and absorbing heat. Your goal should be to change the oil in your engine before it breaks down and causes major engine troubles. So how often should you change your oil? It depends on many factors, including the way you drive, how old your engine is, and where you live.
