I AM BEHIND. It is time for our May meeting and I have not posted any thing about our April meeting. Carolyn Cox gave the program about part of her family tree. Cullen Nowell was her 2nd Great grandfather. Cullen was born in Johnson County North Carolina and left in 1828, starting a journey west. His first stop was in Tennessee, where he farmed and started his large family. His family moved once more into Arkansas and his sons farmed and raised their families. These are the people that has made our nation strong. Their families worked hard and passed this work ethic down to the next generation. Thank you for a very good program. Shirley Richard

"We Become A Nation" by Frances Moore. Reviewed by Shirley Richard. It is had for us to image what our town and county must have like from the beginning of time all the way to the present time. From Columbus looking for a route and Desota looking for gold and explored the Mississippi River, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. One from England and one for States rights and freedom. These are just some of the things that have made our nation strong. We must not forget... Amendments 13, 14, 15, which abolishes slavery, giving the Negro race civil right and the right to vote. Also Amendment 19, giving women the right to vote. I may not agree with you,but if it is within the law, I will fight for your right to do so. When I pledge Allegiance to our flag, sing our national anthem, or sing "God Bless America" I get chill bumps and misty eyes, because I believe that God has blessed America and has made it the greatest nation on earth.
