Friday Greetings, On Tuesday, Nicolas Anello joined the Fire Department as a Firefighter/EMT. Welcome aboard! On Tuesday, November 3, the City Council authorized 29 NKC Small Business Grants totaling $140,000 in CARES funding to be distributed to businesses in North Kansas City.... The City’s auction of surplus equipment concluded this week. The sale of vehicles, Lawnmowers, bicycles, furniture, and other equipment brought in a total of $77,705. The City is making a change with regard to the Comments from the Public section of City Council agendas. When the City first went to virtual meetings in April due to the pandemic, and the City was figuring out the logistics of holding meetings in this manner, it was established that people could submit comments before a City Council meeting and City staff would read them into the record. Later, the City determined a way to allow people to log in to the meeting themselves and speak to the Council, just as they would at an in-person meeting. This will become the sole procedure beginning with the November 17, 2020 Council meeting. Anyone can still write councilmembers ahead of a Council meeting with their concerns, of course, but emailed comments will no longer be read into the record during the meeting by City staff.
