ATTENTION LIBERTY ELECTRIC CUSTOMERS Urgent Update: Liberty issued a peak advisory for electric customers beginning at 6 p.m. Sunday, February 14, through mid...night Tuesday, February 16, due to extreme cold, increased demand, and fuel supply issues impacting much of the Midwest. We’re are now asking customers to reduce consumption throughout ALL hours of the day through midnight Tuesday, February 16. Unlike cold snaps that have occurred in the past, prolonged cold temperatures throughout the Midwest are impacting the service capabilities of utilities in Missouri and surrounding states. In addition, forecasts are calling for temperatures to drop even further. We are experiencing record-breaking peak demand and fuel supply issues. As stated above, we’re not alone. Utilities across the Midwest are calling on customers now to help conserve energy and protect service reliability. Suggestions for conserving energy include the following: - Set thermostats to 65 degrees or as low as comfortable. Customers who are elderly or have medical conditions complicated by the cold should not lower their thermostat. - Turn off and unplug computers, monitors, chargers, printers, and televisions during periods of non-use. - Avoid using major electric appliances such as stoves, dishwashers, washing machines, and clothes dryers. - Turn down the setting on your hot water heater to 120 degrees. - Turn off nonessential lights. - Postpone all nonessential energy use. We’ll provide additional updates as they become available.

Tracks at West Main are now Open to traffic.
Verona Friends, BSNF is doing track maintenance on both ends of Verona today. The tracks at West Main Street and Extension are blocked (as of 8am this morning anyway). P Highway at the Railroad Tracks is also blocked North of Verona. Please keep this in mind as you are traveling in and out of the City today. (this is a later date than MoDot stated the traffic blockages would be. Obviously, BSNF is not running on time this week :P)... ***EDIT*** Please be aware of backed up Tractor Trailers along P Hwy and along Mainstreet. Also be aware that Tractor Trailer Traffic will probably try to reroute around the county roads around us, and that may cause hazards due to the small size the roads. Thank you for being cautious
