A huge Thank you to Clay County Senior Services and Senior Falls Prevention Coalition of Clay & Platte Counties for the donation of two Knox Boxes. The Knox boxes will be used on Residential homes of Gladstone residents in need. The Knox boxes are used to store a key to the home where our Fire Fighters and Paramedics can use to gain access when an emergency occurs, in this case most likely a fall where the resident can not come to the door. Thank you for your generous donation we can not thank you enough! https://www.facebook.com/SeniorFallsPreventionCoalition

Happy Halloween everyone! With this year being the year it is, we hope you can enjoy a little normalcy tonight. With that being said, here are some guidelines by the CDC to help make tonight even safer for the little ghouls and ghosts out there. https://www.cdc.gov//daily-life-co/holidays/halloween.html

Every Fire Station in the world has a little personality. We are no different. Here you see a coffee mug station that our own FF/Paramedic Justin Perez built and brought in today. This brand new mug station gives each person their own little space to keep their personal coffee mugs. Pretty cool huh?

Working hard..... did you know our crews perform most of the work on our fleet? We do this to keep costly repairs down and to keep our fleet in service. Instead of shipping our Engine 1 out for two days, we are able to get it back in service within an short amount of time and keep it in the city. Here you see FF/Paramedic Justin Perez working hard at replacing a coolant line connection and getting our truck back in service. Thanks Justin!!!!!!

**Apartment Fire** Shortly before 2pm, all units were notified of a fire in an apartment building in the 3100 block of 59th Terrace. Initial arriving units were met with heavy smoke and fire conditions in a multi story apartment building. Mutual aid was requested from Kansas City Fire and an ALL CALL was struck requesting off-duty personnel to respond back into the city.... The fire was brought under control within the hour and the Gladstone Fire Marshal was dispatched for investigation. Please stay clear of the area as crews remain on the scene. Thank you to our partners at KCFD for your assistance today.

I know everyone is extremely careful while cooking, but in the event you should have a grease fire in your pan, DO NOT try to put it out with water!!! The best way is just put a lid on it and shut off the stove.
