2/25 @ 3:24pm Central Crossing Fire was dispatched to a controlled burn that was reported to now be out of control. Crews arrived to find a large fire burning, spreading rapidly through a field and into some wooded areas. In all, nearly 30 acres burned. If you're wondering if the recent moisture has left things wet enough to safely burn, that answer could be no! Crews experienced rapid fire spread with 3 to 4' flame height today. Be safe!

We've had a few people ask recently and thought we should provide an update... Unfortunately with the ongoing COVID pandimic situation we have had to postpone our anual chili fest fundraiser and open house events. We look forward to returning to normalcy and being able to have these events again sometime soon. We do have a 501c3 and can still take donations from anyonewho so wishes. Currently we have two unbudgeted projects that we are working to fund. One project is for some medical related equipment, the other project is for some high angle/slope rescue equipment. Anyone interested in contributing to these projects is welcome to contact the district offices at 417-858-3560 with any questions or for more information. Thank you!

2/23 @ 7:28pm Central Crossing Fire was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident in the area of Scenic View on 39 highway. This was a 4th party call with little information available. Crews searched the area and were eventually able to call out and hear someone yelling back at them for help. These calls for help were coming from the bottom of a deep ravine in the area. Using rope and pulley systems, crews accessed the patient trapped in a vehicle that had rolled. The patient ...required extrication from the vehicle and was then transported back to the top of the hill to an awaiting ambulance. Afterwards the patient was flown by helicopter to a Springfield hospital. It was determined the accident had likely occurred 2 hours previous to the call. Many thanks to Southern Stone County Technical Rescue Team for your willingness to head this way and assist us. Also to Barry and Stone County 911, Mercy EMS and MO Highway Patrol for your assistance and efforts with this incident. See more

Our thanks to Prestons Landscaping as well as the local road districts for their efforts in keeping the entrances to our fire stations across the district cleared during the recent snow events. We appreciate your efforts!

2/17/21 @ 9:30pm -- Many apologies.... for some reason our post from this morning didn't go through -- 76 highway from east of 39 to EE highway was closed since about 8:15 this morning requiring detours. After just over 13 hours, the roadway is NOW OPEN. Multiple large tow trucks had to be called in to remove a semi involved in an accident. Power lines were also down. Thanks to everyone for their patience and those involved for their assistance.
