The Cherry Hill Office Has Relocated! We’re excited to continue working with Mizzou Therapy Services at their location ON CAMPUS at MU! Our new office is at 701 S. Providence Rd. Dr. Ramirez will be seeing patients here on Tuesdays & Wednesday’s. We will also continue to see patients at the Rangeline office on Monday & Thursday’s! ... A huge shoutout and thank you to Dr. Rob Bernskoetter & Jerry Porter from Columbia Eye Consultants Optometry for finding me & José prescription protective eyewear with anti-fog for work! Thank you for keeping us & our patients safe (and allowing us to see!) For our fellow healthcare workers struggling to see with glasses & shields or goggles, give our friends at at CEC a visit! Don’t forget, all patients must continue to wear masks for their appointments. We also ask no visitors for your appointment unless you are a minor or require assistance. Thanks for helping to keep Dr. Ramirez & the Mizzou Therapy Services staff safe!

Proper Weight Bearing While Walking When walking, we actually change the area of our foot that bears the majority of our weight. It starts in the heel, goes across the arch, and ends with pushing off on our big toe. This is all accomplished by the foot performing what we call PRONATION ... Pronation occurs at the subtalar joint of the ankle (highlighted in purple). If your foot is not properly pronating, it can cause issues in the arches, ankle, or even up into the knee. Muscles in the lower leg help control the speed of pronation while walking. If these muscles are weak, the foot will pronate too quickly, which can lead to pain in the arches or shins. > Check out the video in comments to see pronation of the foot! These are the types of mechanics we look at to help strengthen your lower leg, ankle, and foot at your appointment. This helps to develop the best treatment options for you to help with any of your lower leg complaints including tight calf muscles, plantar fasciitis, or shin splints! #chiropractic #columbiamo #muhealth #mizzou #plantarfasciitis #shinsplints #footmechanics #pronation #footpain #heelpain #sportschiro #ccg

Did you know there are actually 3 arches that support the foot?! Each arch is supported by different muscles, as well as fascia. When muscles that support the arches are weak, all the stress is placed on the fascia which can lead to plantar fasciitis. It’s one of the most common causes! This will cause inflammation and pain every time you stand up, start walking, or even during your runs. So what can you do about it?! Try this simple exercise to help strengthen your fee...t. While sitting with the foot flat on the ground, splay your toes and hold for 5 seconds. Be sure you are keeping all your toes and your foot/heel flat on the ground. No curling of your toes! This is one of the many ways we help patients who are suffering from plantar fasciitis. If you’re experiencing foot pain that is affecting your daily life, give Dr. Ramirez a call to schedule your appointment. 573-397-5980 [email protected]

Attention Patients In response to the growing spread of COVID-19 in Boone County, our office will be instating a few new safety procedures to protect you, Dr. Ramirez, and all the staff at MIZZOU Therapy Services which we share an office with. Effective immediately, you can expect the following: -Your temperature will be taken upon entry into the office. All staff will also have our temperatures monitored throughout the day as well... -Please report to your appointment alone, unless you are a minor. -You will be contacted prior to your appointment and asked questions in regards to your current health, recent travel and exposures -If you have recently traveled, we will be rescheduling your appointment for at least 2 weeks out from the date of your return -We will not be scheduling any patients who are immunocompromised or pregnant at this time for your own safety Please note these procedures are subject to change, as we are constantly reassessing the spread of COVID-19 in our community. Our goal is to remain open as long as possible to provide care, and try to relieve the strain off of our local hospital system for musculoskeletal complaints so they may focus on more urgent cases. Please give Dr. Ramirez a call if you have any questions or concerns. Your safety is of the utmost importance!
