Math...building a cabinet is all about MATH! Which leads me to ask this question: Why don't board measurements match what we call them? Why is a 1" x 3" board actually 1" x 2.5"? I get that it has to do with lumber manufacturing and the size that it starts out, but why can't we save everyone a lot of extra math and just call it what it is??

Bam! Two solid, plywood cabinet boxes built and mounted! Bonus, we’re still talking to each other Next up, shelves and doors. We were going to order the unfinished doors, but that’s not as much fun now that we’ve invested in some new tools...and haven’t bickered very much. Going all in!

Our homes are never quite "finished." In this case, I'm referring to our own laundry room that we are attempting to DIY starting with some custom cabinets.
