Just another reason why you should get a 5 year inspection. You never know what could be lodged inside those pipes!

What a long way we have come from the way sprinkler valves and alarms are tied together! This "old school" alarm would require someone to be stationed at their valve location to see the light come on and then follow up with an onsite investigation to see what was going on. Now everything is routed into a combined full building fire alarm panel that serves not only the sprinkler alarms but the building's fire alarm devices such as smoke and heat detectors.

Why do I need a 5-year assessment? Is it really necessary if I am keeping up on my annual inspections? These are two questions that many people ask frequently when told their facility is due for the 5-year assessment. A 2-hour hydrostatic test of the FDC is performed during this inspection. This FDC was clogged with a bird’s nest. Imagine if the fire department would have tried hooking up to this connection to pump water into the building. Don’t wait to schedule your 5 year!

Sprinkler heads must be vacuumed or cleaned with compressed air. Loaded sprinkler heads can delay or prevent the head from operating. Take a look at these loaded heads from a restaurant kitchen that collected grease and dust build up overtime. All heads were replaced due to their condition.

Friday's Flame Guard Training was a success! Training looked a little different this time with social distancing rules in place. We even had multiple people join in via zoom. A big thank you to Mike Sass for putting this on! The training was conducted to keep us current on CPVC design and installation practices.

The importance of fire sprinklers is inevitable. All it took was one head to put out this kitchen fire. #FIRESPRINKLERSSAVELIVES #FIRESPRINKLERSSAVEPROPERTY
