February is Black History Month! To celebrate, Parkway Senior Living residents and employees are reading children's books about black historical figures. Today,... Alice reads "Harlem's Little Blackbird: The Story of Florence Mills" by Renée Watson and illustrated by Christian Robinson. Our goal with this project is to raise funds to donate copies of the books we read to local schools in our communities. We would also like to donate a portion of our fundraising efforts to The Eyeseeme Foundation, the non-profit arm of the Eyeseeme African American Children's Bookstore. The Foundation's mission is to create programs that increase childhood literacy for under-served communities and to promote African American History and multicultural literature that will increase respect and tolerance for diverse cultures.
