It is with great pleasure Sheriff Carl Hefner and the Stoddard County Sheriff's Office announces the addition of a K9 unit to our Patrol Division. A K9 unit wil...l be a major asset not only to the Sheriff's Office, but to the community as a whole. Canines are a visible deterrent to crime. They can detect and locate dangerous drugs and can track a criminal that has fled from law enforcement. Canines also serve as a wonderful resource in locating missing persons who maybe have walked away from a residence or facility. This is extremely helpful with children and elderly members of our community. A K9 officer would also be filling the position of our county's "best friend", bridging gaps between law enforcement and the community at both public and private events. The Stoddard County Sheriff's Office is seeking assistance from the community in order to raise funds to place the K9 unit in service. Funds would be utilized for the acquisition of the canine officers, training for the canine and handler, and equipment. Through a very generous contribution, a food source for the canine has already been established. It is the goal of the Sheriff's Office to continue to combat crime in our county and to continuously build community relations. Your support would be graciously accepted and appreciated.

Update found safe!!!!!

On or about December 22, 2020, there was a rash of vehicles being tampered with in the area North of Dexter around County Road 413 (Christian Drive, Pond Lane a...nd Cedar Hills Drive). We are asking for your assistance in locating these subjects. There were at least three suspects in this vehicle. The vehicle is described as a white or light color four door sedan. If you have any surveillance cameras in the area that was operational on December 22nd at approximately 0400 hours until approximately 0600 hours, please notify the Stoddard County Sheriffs Office. Thank you to everyone who came out to the lighted Christmas parade tonight. We have started planning for next year to be bigger and better. A special thanks to the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Advance Fire Department, and Puxico Fire Department.

Our Christmas parade will happen rain or shine tonight! If it is raining feel free to sit in your vehicle along the route.
