Let's send 2020 out on a brighter note for those less fortunate.

Well it's been a while so let's play your favorite game of "Who Am I???" If you recognize the male and the female in the attached photos, please contact Ptl. Harrison at 816-331-1500. They are suspected in a large shoplifting case at Hobby Lobby last week. Please forgive the amateur photo editing used to hide the faces of those not involved. Thanks in advance for your help.

At least 5 million acts of domestic violence occur annually to women aged 18 years and older, with over 3 million involving men. The Belton Police Departments V...ictim Service Unit, Cass County Sheriff's Office Victim Service Unit, and Hope Haven placed words of encouragement through out Beltons Walking trails. Our hope is that the rocks will do one of s few things. We hope that it reaches a victim / survivor of domestic violence and gives them hope. Two, we hope the rocks could reach someone who is going through a rough time and show they are supported. Finally we hope the rocks will encourage conversations to help raise awareness about domestic violence. For today's chance to be entered in the prize drawing at the end if the month, we ask that you find the rock take a picture and post it on your social media pages. Then screen shot your post and post under our prize post that is pinned at the top of this page. #DVAM2020 #bpdvau #ccsovsu #HopeHaven

In the last few days, we have received reports of a new scam. The suspect contacts the victim by phone claiming to be with a federal agency. The suspect tells the victim that a rental car rented in the victim's name was stopped in Texas loaded down with cocaine and that the victim is on the hook for the crime. When the victim explains they don't have a rental car full of cocaine, the suspect tells the victim their identity has been stolen and their bank account is at risk.... The suspect then tells the victim to use what money is left in their account to buy various gift cards (to get the money safely out of the bank before it’s too late), take pictures of the gift cards and then send the pictures of the gift cards to the suspect as proof that the victim followed directions. A federal agency will never contact you and instruct you to purchase anything or ask for your social security number, etc. If you are concerned that your identity has been stolen by a criminal in another state, contact your local law enforcement agency. The National Intimate Partner and Sexual Violence Survey concluded that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men have experienced some form of physical violence by an intima...te partner. This includes a range of behaviors (e.g. slapping, shoving, and pushing) and in some cases might not be considered "domestic violence." For today’s Domestic Violence Awareness Event we are asking you to tie a purple ribbon in your front yard. Why do we tie purple ribbons you ask? According to hospital advocate Kate Lawler, The purple ribbon has come to symbolize the anti-domestic violence movement it represents courage, survival, honor and dedication to ending all forms of domestic violence. We asked that you tie a ribbon in your front yard to let those survivors know that they are courageous for surviving. To enter for a chance to win a prize in our drawing at the end of the month, take a picture of the ribbon that you have tied in your front yard and post it under our prize post pinned at the top of this page. #DVAM2020 #BPDVAU #CCSOVSU #HopeHaven #PurpleRibbonAwareness

Did you know that October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. According to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, More than 10 million Americans ar...e victims of physical violence annually. This is why the Belton Police Department’s Victim Service Unit, Cass County Sheriff’s Office Victim Service Unit, and Hope Haven will join forces this month to help raise awareness in Cass County and the surrounding cities. This year because of COVID-19 we are moving our annual awareness event virtually. We will be having fun activities that you can do all while social distancing. Please visit the Belton Police Department’s Victim Service Unit’s Facebook page (Victim Service Unit) to keep up with the latest activities. Also, you will have chances to win prizes for participation. See more
