I have danced in 25 years of nutcracker, 11 productions/different companies’ versions (including B314!) I had the honor performing as Sugarplum Fairy to... a live orchestra in Portland Ballet’s Nutcracker in Maine, four different years. Live music is a special and surreal experience for a dancer. The e book is a new way to experience STL history, music, dance and the classic tale of Nutcracker for the whole family! We asked Vanessa about the Nutcracker tradition: Over my life as a dancer, I've performed in 10 Nutcrackers each with different choreography, sets and costumes. Ballet 314's World's Fair interpretation has been the most unique and reimagined.... Her favorite Nutcracker memory: The first time I performed as the Snow Queen with the Saint Louis Ballet. It was a dream role I had watched others dance for years and I was extremely nervous, but excited to have my first time in the spotlight dancing to, what I think, is some of the most beautiful music of the ballet.
