To all my social work friends I suspect it is hard to love a social worker. Especially with Covid-19 We get up early and don't have time to drink coffee over the newspaper. We come home late and are too tired to cook. We work extra because we know there are families who need us. We don't get too excited over a minor crisis because we deal with massive crisis all day. We have seen far worse. We don't want to talk when we come home. We have talked all day. We don't want to m...ove when we come home. We have moved all day. It may seem, that we have left all our caring, our heart, and our love at work, then come home to you empty. We probably have. But we don't tell you that many times at work we are scared. Scared we are missing something. Scared we will let our families down or leave the children unsafe. Scared to go into homes of unknown people and scared what we might find. We have to deal with angry families and all the while do our best to help them. We don't tell you how the trauma we see affects us, and how stressed we are for the pain our families are going through. I suspect it is hard to love a social worker but know this: Your social worker needs your love. Needs your understanding. Needs to know that you "get it". Needs to be taken care of. Needs you to do the hardest work you may ever do, which is to love a social worker. I would like to thank those of you out there who love us and let us do this work, this calling, this life: Social work. - I didn’t write this...

Crazy how times flies and miles traveled. Picked up the New van on 10-8 with the new wrap. In 30 days wer have traveled almost 5000 miles in one month. The last 2 days alone we travel to 15 different service providers, from hospitals to detox. From psy unit to jail. Traveled to all the surrounding counties. From Johnson county to wyandotte. From Jackson to Douglas. Work with 28 individuals for placements. It's been a long and rewarding two 16 hours days. So thankful we'd could be of services to those in need. At the same time get to enjoy our team work. And have fun along the way. Thank you. Amen

An amazing day to serve at the park. Gave out over 100 meals in less than an hour. There is a rally going on for the Democratic president elect while we serve our meal. Then we rush to organize our Sunday recovery meeting. I am so thankful to have the opportunity to serve those in need. And thankful to have the best team support. Amen

From last Sunday: What a fantastic evening! We got to kick off our official AHH Recovery Meeting at Colonial Church, and also have a little pre-celebration for our own personal Hulk Ehren Schwarz birthday tomorrow! With Zach's art skills, and my utter stroke of genius we pulled off a fantastic surprise birthday painting for him! Our recovery meeting was truly special, and the birthday celebration was the icing on the cake! We continue to count our blessings at A.H.H.!

I would be deeply humbled if everyone on my timeline that believes in the power of prayer would stop what you’re doing, just take a minute, and post this. "Lord, we need You! Please sweep through this nation and heal this land. Restore our strength, renew our minds, and cast out anything that's not of You, Amen." Pray for our country!! Amen #FaithChallenge... #CopyAndPasteIfYouAgree See more
