WHAT, WAIT, WOW. I just seen the date and it's exactly one month till the NEW session of Alpha starts. If you've been a life long christian or just recently started feeling God's love or your on the outside looking in at Christianity, we all have questions. The Alpha course is 10 weekly sessions that's set up with a full dinner, then a short talk by Nicky Gumbel with questions like "Is There More to Life Than This?", "Why Did Jesus Die?", "What Does the Holy Spirit Do?" ...and so much more. Then we break up into our small groups. Our small groups are in a relaxed and judgement free environment where we discuss Nicky's questions and what he said as well as asking our own questions. Alpha is run in cafés, churches, universities, homes and work places all over the world. This Alpha is run at the Open Hearts Methodist Church here in Bolivar. It's is not a Methodist orientated group, it's just hosted by that church. Alpha IS FOR EVERYONE. So you are ALL invited to Alpha on February 5th at 6pm. Ways to register for Alpha are below, (we register mainly so we know how much food to make, oh and the food is amazing, . Testimony from Roger Nagarkar, My spiritual journey has included numerous bible studies, workshops, seminars, etc. Without a doubt one of the most impactful of these has been the Alpha course. Foremost, it is imperative to mention, that the unrelenting focus of Alpha is our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Through a series of weekly video presentations, pastor Nicky Gumble, talks about spiritual subjects (new one every week) that are very meaningful to my christian life.... Subjects in the bible, that were confusing to me, became much clearer. Furthermore, the small group discussions, directly after each presentation, were very invigorating and vital in enhancing and solidifying my understanding of our Lord Jesus and the Bible. All in all, the course made such a monumental and positive impact in my life, that I would urge everyone to participate in this course. See more

Another Alpha Testimony. I tried to keep this as short as I could but this is the best I could do. Before coming to the Alpha course I really hadn't given much interest into religion, I just didn't think it would make a difference to me. I've always been a decent guy and I'd like to think that others seen me that way too. I always believed that there was a God but to believe in everything else I needed proof and again I didn't think it was that important so I didn't try to ...Continue reading

Tonight was the kick off week for the Fall Alpha course, Is There More to Life Than This? It was a great night with new friends, great fellowship and of course amazing food . Just because tonight was the kick off doesn't mean that it's too late to be included in it. If anyone has any questions about Alpha feel free to message me (Andrew) and I'll happily try to answer your questions. Or come by next Tuesday to the Alpha official week 1 session, Who is Jesus? Look forward to seeing you next week.

Alpha Testimony from Trevor McKie. Angie and I were approached by her parents to attend Alpha. Well, when they have a suggestion, it's not really a suggestion, it's more of directive delivered with love. We heard about the 12 week commitment and were a little overwhelmed. We talked it over and we decided to commit, but we told ourselves that it would be ok to miss a week or two. ... At the time, I had been a member of BUMC for four years and before that, I was unchurched, but interested in this thing called God. I have two close friends that live in faith and I see how their outlook on life is unshakable. They never preached to me, but they showed the power of unwaivering faith and I became very interested. During my first four years I never felt the same connection they had. That was until I got involved with Alpha. During the course of the program I noticed myself looking forward to every Tuesday. I noticed I started to pick up some momentum in my faith and I wanted to learn more. About week four, I was not just learning about God's spirit, I was starting to live it for the first time ever. As each week passed, I started to feel this inner peace that was so foreign to me. I watched the videos intently and couldn't wait for our small group conversation. I found in Alpha what my friends had always had. An unshakable faith in God and a trust in his plan for me. For the first time I was able to close my eyes, calm my mind and relax my body as I let his spirit in. Although, I also learned that you have to practice your faith daily because daily life will suck you away so quickly from God's spirit. As the 12 weeks came to an end, Angie and I never missed a session nor even thought about missing. It went unsaid what we had planned on Tuesday evenings. I am beyond grateful for Alpha for so many reasons. I created a connection with God that I never knew. I now lean on him heavily in good times and bad. I see myself in a different light now, I don't carry the heavy loads of daily life that I used to. In summary, Alpha brought me to God and I have never let go. Trevor B McKie
