As the new year is upon us...I think it’s a good practice to find things to be grateful for from 2020. While this year has been very trying for all of us...it has also given us extra time with our family. For that...we should be grateful. I also think that this past year has been an example of how important it is to be healthy. Our risk of having severe problems if contracting COVID-19 is mostly dependent upon our current state of health and wellness. ... As we walk into 2021...I want you to recommit to a healthier you. This includes... Exercise Rest Nutrition Supplements and...Stress Management. In the later part of this year...Sweat has taken extra steps to incorporate more practices into our business to offer services to help you achieve a higher level of health. We’ve added more Personal Trainers, a Corrective Exercise Specialist, Massage Therapists and more Chiropractors who are on site to serve you and keep you healthy. We’ve also added modalities for recovery such as NormaTec Compression Therapy, Joovv Red Light Therapy, Ultrasound, Muscle Stim Machines, Deep Muscle Stimulators, HyperIce Massage Guns, Cupping and Graston Tools. All of which aid in faster recovery and overall stress reduction. We’ve also spent time this year deepening our relationships with outside services such as Supplement Super Stores, Fit Flavors and Metabolic Meals. #repost @mattbrown.sweat If I don’t kill myself...it wasn’t a good workout. If I’m not sore as hell the next day...it wasn’t a good training session.... Sound familiar? I’ve been in the personal training business for 30 years...if I’ve heard this once...I’ve heard it 1000 times. Are these truths?....No I coach people out of this way of thinking everyday. Is there a time and place to absolutely crush the workout...? Yes. Is there a time a place to be sore as hell the next day...? Yes. Are these requirements to call a training session worth while...? Not at all. Factors to consider: Training Age...The longer you’ve been training the better conditioned your body becomes...therefore...getting sore as hell requires more effort, more sets...etc. The Individual...Some people just get sore easily while others don’t. Body Parts...Some body parts get sore with only a few sets. Other body parts require a lot more sets and reps. How You Feel...Listen to your body. Some days you can go to the well with your training. You feel great...stress is low...you’ve had plenty to eat...your mind is clear. Other days...Get in and simply try to hit your numbers. Your Goals...Your over all goal will also play a huge part in how you train. Some people just want to be fit and feel great. Others want to build muscle and compete. Very different goals...very different methods for training. Often...very different response from the body the following day. So what should you do? Where do you fit in the equation? Somewhere in the middle!!! If you listen to your body...train hard when appropriate...somedays you’ll absolutely crush it and get sore as hell. Other days...you’ll just train and get in better shape. It’s human nature to compare yourself to other people. It just happens. Men start losing hair...we’ll start noticing other guys with great full heads of hair. You want big arms...you’ll go to the gym and notice guys with huge arms. ... You want a new car...all you’ll see are new cars. Women...You want to be a size 6...you’ll notice women who are skinnier than you. You want to change your hair color to blonde...you’ll see blonde haired women. That’s just the way it works. What doesn’t work is when you let it get you down. When you start to feel less than...defeated...jealous. ANGRY!!! When and if you get to this point, probably more when than if...actually.. Remember...everyone is different. We all have our own set of strengths and weaknesses. EVERYONE has something they want to change. Change what you can...do your best...put in your work. Where you end up is where you end up. As long as you’ve done your best...there should be a sense of accomplishment and peace. Run your own race. Compare yourself to no one.
